Chapter 62: There Are Stranger Things

Sorry for the delay, I had writer's block 😅 Anyway, I wanted to incorporate more ST content before moving on to Far From Home... which we are about to do 😏 

Also, do y'all imagine a specific actor or someone for the older versions of the ST gang? For El, I imagine Natalia Esperón lol.

The brunette giggles as she nods her head and I chuckle gleefully. "Oh, my God, El! I can't believe it's you!" I claim, pulling her into a hug. I glance at the redhead and stretch out my arm, gesturing for her to join the embrace. "And Max!" I squeal as she comes over. We stay like this for a few seconds before finally letting go. I study them in pure shock. This is so trippy. "Wow, you guys are so... old," I state. They laugh at this.

"47 isn't that old," Max counters. "And we did blip so we're younger than we're supposed to be. Aren't you like 55?" she sasses, making me cackle.

"50 actually because I blipped too. Although I haven't lost my youth, my body is technically 17," I reply. "You should try my beauty method: ice. It really slows down aging," I joke, talking like a salesperson. Everyone in the room laughs and Jonathan shakes his head.

We all sit down in the living room and El asks, "so how are you? We haven't talked since '85." I nod and look down. That is true, we haven't spoken since then and she and Max show up right after the Westview incident. It's pretty obvious why they're here.

"I'm managing... So you guys are here for the trial?"

"Yeah, we want to support you. Mike told us what happened," Max responds.

"Mm... is that the only reason?" I question, staring at El. She looks away for a second. I can tell she knows that I caught her.

"Um... no, it's not the only reason," she states. I just gaze at her, waiting for her to proceed. "I've never seen anyone from the lab be able to do what you did, and you've never come close to something like that before. I thought we were the same but your powers go way beyond my capability. How?"

The curiosity is evident in her eyes. I glance around and notice everyone eyeing me the same way. Welp, the whole gang is here so I guess now is the time to fess up. "We aren't the same," I state, earning a puzzled look from El. "My powers didn't come from science. In fact, I don't have superpowers at all." Everyone is bewildered by my words, not understanding what I mean. "So basically..." I commence telling the story of how Wanda and I found out we're witches. I share what I discovered about my past, how we created our own reality, and describe the battle with Agatha. I tell them about the Darkhold and how Wanda and I became the Amethyst Witch and Scarlet Witch. By the end of the story, everyone is speechless.

After a moment of awkward silence, Lucas pipes up, "you're a witch?"

"Yup," I reply, nodding. He looks away, still processing the information.

"I can't believe Brenner was suppressing your magic," El comments. "Did he know it was magic?"

I shrug and respond, "I don't know. Maybe he thought I was like you."

El nods and looks down in thought. "So are you gonna practice spells now?" she inquires. I sigh as I think about the question.

"I do want to learn more about myself and my magic but... not right now. My life has always felt like a rollercoaster with crazy loops and sudden drops. I just want to feel normal, even if it's for a short moment before going down the magical rabbit hole."

Everyone nods in understanding. They've been with me through some crazy times so they know I need a break. "Well, if you ever need someone to help you study a spell or something, I'm here," Jonathan speaks.
