Allegra tossed and turned in bed all night.
She was restless. Her fight with Ron left her feeling both angry, sad, and guilty. She was furious at him for insinuating that about her and Harry. It wasn't okay to even joke about that, especially in regards to Cedric. Then she couldn't help but feel guilty at his words.
"You're calling the girl who picked a guy she's known for 4 years over the guy she's known her whole life loyal?"
Technically she had chosen Harry over Ron. But Harry needed her whereas Ron wouldn't listen to reason because he was jealous and stubborn. Still, she felt bad. From Ron's point of view, he thought she had abandoned him for Harry. But to Allegra, Ron was the one who had abandoned Harry.
She thought about the dragons. Those humongous, dangerous, ravenous beasts. Classified by the Ministry of Magic as XXXXX; impossible to train or domesticate.
And Harry and Cedric had to fight them.
Cedric was a brilliant wizard, there was no doubt about it. But to face a dragon? Was this the sort of thing he got excited about? Surely he had to know the tasks would be along these lines if he was so eager to put his name forward for the Tournament. Cedric wasn't a god like so many people made him out to be. He was merely human.
Her main worry lied with Harry. Putting him before a dragon would be like sending a lamb to the slaughter. Hell, Hermione told her Harry struggled to cast a simple Accio in Charms class.
Then there was her dad, who wished her to use her abilities to find out who was plotting against Harry. A smart plan, yes, but perhaps if Allegra was used to her abilities it would be easier. For years she had tried to ignore it as much as possible. To try and live a normal life, especially after reading Beatrice's journal and finding out how the woman before her were like.
Manipulative. Conniving. Self-destructive. Killers.
She thought if she ignored her powers all together then there could be no way possible she could end up like that. Tainted by greed, power, violence, or any other sin. It seems once a Del Vecchio has had a taste of it they can never give it up.
Allegra was forced to feel the emotions of everyone around her. All she could do was tame it and grow accustomed to it. Her issue lied with mind reading. She could read minds as easy as breathing whereas other witches and wizards had to work for it. Some never attaining it no matter how hard they tried. Unlike Legilimens though, she could break through any Occlumency shield and the person wouldn't sense it. That was the dangerous part. Her dad had said that her mom used her abilities to their advantage during the war. Knowing things before others...sensing disaster before it came. She used her abilities for a greater good.
