Ch3: Back Home
The plane ride back home was dreadful. There was nothing to do except to wait for the ride to be over. I glanced to my right; Alyssa was by my side, snoring slightly. In front of me were my two older brothers, bickering over which snack tasted better and behind me, my parents were talking quietly to each other. Then there was me, who couldn't sleep without seeing Cindy's horrid state before my very eyes. This went on and on until finally we landed.
We finally made it home at 10:30 the next morning. The first thing I did when we arrived home was run up to my room. I collapsed onto my bed; my clothes and everything still on and before I knew it, I was asleep. That was the first night in three days were I finally had one nights sleep without thinking and dreaming of the tragic things that had happened in my life.
The next morning, I woke up with a smile on my face. It was a genuine smile, the first in a long time. I stretched as I reached over my bedside table to get my diary. Then I began to write in my diary.
Dear Diary,
Visiting Japan again was great! Nothing has really changed but I wish I could have stayed for a bit longer though. I've been thinking... It would be so cool if Cindy knew all the fun things that I will be doing. So from now on, I have made a promise to myself that everything that I do, I will write it down like a letter to her. It would be like she never left! I know in reality that she is gone, so I will give it to her in the future. I hope that this will work. It never hurts to try!
Amanda Neely
I closed my diary and got ready to go to school. As I finished dressing, I could smell the wonderful smell of my mom's homemade waffles. Blueberry waffles to be exact. They were yummy with syrup and lots and lots of whipped cream. The magnificent smell was coming under the door from the kitchen downstairs. I hurried up and ran down the stairs, to see my mom quietly humming to herself while putting on the finishing touches to the waffles.
"Good morning Amanda." My mum said as I walked in.
"Morning, Mom." I replied.
She came and kissed my forehead as I walked to the table and sat down. I waited for her to finish up. When she placed a plate in front of me I quickly ate up the delicious, most scrumptious waffles I have ever had and headed off for school. Right as I arrived at school, I started walking around the large high school, searching, trying to find anyone I know. I finally spotted Paige in the distance, only to see that she was busy talking to her boyfriend, Bradley White. I sighed and walked away not bothering to say hi. Feeling depressed, I walk away slowly to my homeroom class. The first day of school was horrible. I can name a hundred reasons why, but the worst ones, are:
#1 - I was the new kid and I didn’t know anyone.
#2 - My old school, "Lincoln Heights" was hard, and I doubt my new school "Shannon Heights" (same school as in "Message Me") would be any easier.
I sat down in the closest empty seat to the door in the classroom, and lay my head down on my arms on the table and felt the sleepiness take over me once I again. My eyes were slowly drooping closed but I became fully awake when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I lifted up my head and looked around, just in time to see a tall, cute, guy standing behind me.
"Can I sit here?"
Who is this kid? Is he new like me? No, no he couldn't be... could he? His dark brown, messy hair was cut perfectly that stoped right before it reached his dark blue eyes. His eyes were rimmed with black along the outside of his lower lid and he had perfectly toned muscles along with a perfect golden coloured skin. There was an awkward silence, and I realized I haven't said anything yet. Was this worth it? I took another look at him and he seemed sincere.
"Yeah... Sure... Why not..." I said.
He sat down in the desk beside me and it was silent for a while. He drummed his fingers on his desk while I merely watched. He looked back at me, just in time to see me staring right at him. It was starting to feel kind of weird, so I looked away. Feeling heat flame up my cheeks; feeling embarrassed for staring at him too long. Would he be my first friend at Shannon Heights?
"I'm sorry; I haven't introduced myself yet... Hi, my name is Tyler. Are you new to this school?"
"Um... my name is Amanda Neely and yes I am new to this school," I said shyly.
"Alright settle down class!”
That very sentence ended our so wonderful conversation. I looked straight ahead, to see the teacher put his things on his desk, take a white board marker, and start writing things on the board.
“Good Morning Class, I am your homeroom teacher Mr. Marcum."
He underlined his name with a big squeak. Oh, this is going to be a fun class alright.

Class went on for about another 50 minutes. The teacher introduced himself and told us what the expectations of his class were until finally the bell rang and we then went to pick our lockers. I had no idea what locker to choose because I knew I didn't want to get stuck being beside somebody who is really weird, nor do I want to be stuck all alone near the trash can or something. It was really hard but I decided to give it a shot anyway.
I found an empty locker in the corner, far away from everyone that wouldn't even give me a glance and locked my lock on it. As I walked back to class, I saw Tyler beside me. With a hint of a smile, I looked up at him.
