After Kyle handed me the paper, I put the number in my phone, and he asked,
“Let’s say a guy liked you, but you don’t talk to him a lot. Would you like him back?”
“Hmm…Well it depends on who, and their personality.”
“Personality eh? What if…..”
“What if what?”
“What if that person that liked you was sitting in front of you and told you that he liked you. What would you say?”
Of course I knew what he meant. To tell you the truth, I think I might be liking him too. I really wanted this conversation to go on till lunch.
“Hmm. I would ask him why.”
“Ohh.. would like him back?”
*Awkward Silence*
“Well….Do you really wanna know?”
“Yes please.” He said, sounding desperate.
“Then…yes. But not because he’s super popular, but because I think that guy has a kind heart.”
I looked down at my phone blushing. He slid his body over a bit and lifted my chin so he could see my face. He smiled. I smiled. It was almost time for lunch so we hurried back inside. The only reason why we got to go outside, today was because the teachers had some meeting. We walked into the building and everyone was staring at us. Uh yah. It was really awkward. I turned around heading for the door to go back outside but Kyle just grabbed my arm and whispered to me,
“Don’t worry, I will handle this.”
“No don’t. I’ll just leave. I don’t want to embarrass you in front of your friends.”
“No Amanda. No. You are not embarrassing me.”
He looked at me seriously. I couldn’t dare say no.
“Hey people! Nothing to stare at! Just turn away!” He announced in front of everyone. Including Tyler.
Kyle looked at me and smiled.
“Told you I could handle it. Now, let’s go for lunch?”
“What about your friends? You don’t have to eat with me you know? I could just find someone else to eat with.”
“But I want to eat with you. I don’t care what people say about me. There is absolute nothing anyone can do about it. You’re the person I want to be with right now. You gotta believe that.”
Did he really like me that much? I wonder….
“I guess. If you really want too.”
“Yes. I am positive. Now let’s put your books away and go eat.”
“Okay.”
We walked to my locker and put my stuff away. I got my lunch and we walked over to the cafeteria. He opened the doors and we walked in. Kyle ran in and tried to find some seats. He waved for me to come over and I did. When I reached the table, Tyler was sitting next to Kyle. I thought that seat was saved for me! I turned around and tried to find another seat. I grabbed a chair that was empty and brought it beside Kyle, but before I could sit down, Tyler grabbed my chair and brought it beside him. I looked over angrily and narrowed my eyes at him. He smirked playfully and motioned to the chair beside him. I huffed but obeyed. I looked over at Kyle and he smiled sadly back at me.
“What are you looking at him for?”
“I—I-“I gulped, I didn’t know what to say!
