I squirmed in their tight grip.

Why were werewolves so damn touchy?!

Ryder held my hand tightly in his while Carson held my other one in his, he kept trying to pull me into his lap. I would push his arms away which would result in his growling at me and Ryder pouting.

I felt really bad for pushing them away. Layla didn't understand why I was doing it. She wanted them, and I wanted them, but I was scared that opening up my heart again would result in an explosion. As soon as they learned about my past they would reject me, I just knew it, so I had to keep my guard up, I couldn't get too attached...it would only hurt me more later.

"How much longer till we get there?" Ryder mumbled while shivering. I sent him a side look while I walked through the snow barefooted and in only his shirt, I was fucking fine with it too. Carson didn't like it one bit that I was parading around in only Ryder's t-shirt. But who was going to make comments on the Snow Queen? It wouldn't affect me in any way and I was sending them huge signals right now, the snow and cold had zero to no effect on me. Which should be odd in their eyes.

"It's not too far from here." I offered with a small grin on my face, it amused me that I seemed to be the only one with a clue in this situation. The guys came in clueless as always.

Right as Ryder opens his mouth to complain again, my giant house comes into view along with the lake. I avoided looking at the lake as my legs went out from under me, I was expecting to fall but instead, I ended up tucked into Carosns chest and listened to his chest rumble with lighter as Ryder huffed, "Lucky!" he whined.

My hands held Carson's shirt tightly and my heart pounded against my ribcage, and I gave a half-assed, "Put me down."

Ryder laughed and answered for Carson as they walked on, "What's that little Mate? I couldn't hear you over the sound of your racing heart." he smirked at me.

I rolled my eyes and pouted, "You guys are asashats!" I muttered to which made them laugh harder. Ryder opened the front door and Carson walked in with me held tightly in his arms, I had to admit, it was nice and comfortable up here, and he carried me like I was lighter than a paperclip. "You can put me down now," I mumble to which his arms only tighten around me and he shakes his head. I had to admit, I didn't want him to put me down either.

So instead of putting me down, he walks to the couch and plops down, he settles back into the couch with me in his lap, Ryder sits on the cushion next to us and pulls my feet into his lap while he rubs Carson's hand, "Tell us something about yourself." He chirps while staring avidly at me.

I immediately freeze up, "No!" I snap.

Carson growls and I freeze up before relaxing. The damn mate bound. Carson sighs and rubs my leg with his hand, "If we tell you something about yourself will you tell us something about you?" He offered.

"OH, this is a great idea!" Ryder explodes and wiggles in his seat, "We can play twenty questions and get to know each other faster!" he says and I can't help but grin at his excitement, "I'll go first." he thought for a second, "Carson, where did you grow up?" he asks although I think it's only for my benefit.

"I grew up in Maine." He answered while staring down at me, but I started at Ryder, waiting for his answer.

"I was raised as a California surfer boy." He chipped to which I giggled. "What?" he asked with a raised brow.

"I knew it!" I remember what I had called him before I knew his name, 'surfer dude'. I inwardly rolled my eyes at myself and warned myself that I was getting too friendly.

I slipped my hard mask on and stood up from Carson's lap, his expression broke my heart, it just seemed I wasn't good at this thing, I kept making them look like they were in pain, their expressions would break my heart.

"I don't think this is a good idea." I shake my head.

"Why not?" Ryder asks. He was now standing right next to where Carson sat, which was too close so I took a few steps away.

"It's just not!" I shake my head and frown while my voice rises.

Ryder looks back at Carson with a frown and I can tell that they are mind linking which leaves me offended at being left out but before I could complain my front door burst open and Alpha Riddle is standing in my doorway with six very scary-looking men right behind him. My Alphas eyes find mine and he grins evilly, my heart races in fear and before I realized what I was doing I had taken a few steps away from my mates' back and held their hands in mine. The small amount of comfort I got from their tough vanished as Alpha Riddle spoke of his next world, "Aspen Snow, you have been charged because of the death of a mortal life by your hands, the council wishes to see you." he spits out.

My whole body freezes as my mates growls burst through the room, shit just hit the fan.
