"Slow down, Aspen, control your emotions," Carson said from right next to me. Ryder stood a few feet from me, dirt floating in the air above him, rocks floating by his feet. My hands clenched as I watched him lift the rocks into the air and they combined with the dirt. Ryder had managed to make the painful version of snowballs.
I winced as my hand shook, holding my breath as I focused my energy and emotions to one place, my head. My power slowly came to life before me, as I lifted a small ball of snow off the powdery ground. My heart thundered as the snow lifted up and shook up in the air, I focused hard enough it gave me an instant migraine. The snowball dropped back down to the ground and I let out a loud breath, "Why is that so hard?" I breathed as my legs shook and threatened to crumble.
Carson wrapped an arm around my waist to help support me as Ryder dropped his dirt balls back to the ground. "It's different when your power is being controlled by your emotions, it's more...rash." he rubbed his hands on his pants and came up to Carson and I. "When you are harnessing your energy and controlling it instead if allowing your ice to control you, you are using more energy." he kissed Carson's chin before smiling down at me, "You will get used to it, Little Mate. just like I did and just as Carson did." he kissed my head, "It just takes time." He murmured.
I rolled my eyes and tucked myself into Carson's side as hunger and exhaustion ate at me. "Okay, wise one." I rolled my eyes. Layla smiled in my head, completely satisfied with how our mates took care of us and supported us.
Carson's chest shook with laughter as he sent small jolts of lighting through my body making me jump. I glared at him as I retreated to Ryder's side, "Meanie." I mocked through our bond. " I want to try one more time before we go inside," I told them, my determination to get my power under control was eating at me.
Carson sighed and Ryder shook his head, "You are working too hard, Aspen you have done it at least ten times, give yourself a break." Carson tilted his head and crossed his arms over his chest.
I gave him a hard look, "One more time." I demanded.
Carson opened his mouth to deny me, but Ryder beat him to it, "Okay, baby, we can go one more time, Carson why don't you start making us dinner, I can practically feel Aspen's hunger through the bound." I could hear the smirk in his voice without looking at his face. I let out an exasperated sigh as Carson grumbled and stalked through the snow to the house, rolling his eyes.
"Big baby," I mumbled under my breath, Carson's head snapped to mine from where he stood on the porch.
"𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙨." he said with a smirk through our link. I could see the heat in his eyes as I turned and blushed into Ryder's chest.
"Oh, man," I said as Ryder's laugh sounded through the forest.

"They are training." I simply said, my voice as tight as my body felt, "The girl, she is learning how to use...control-" I cleared my throat uncomfortably, "Her powers and it seems her boyfriends are teaching her." I growled.
The Alpha tilted his head, his hands folding together on the desk as the lights above him flickered, "And how is that going?" He asked, the interest in his voice conflicted with the anger in his eyes.
I slid my hand out of my pocket and smirked, "Slowly." I laughed, "For someone who can kill men so easily, she can't use her power for shit." I laughed. How pathetic was that the men who my father and I had sent after her, dead at her hands, they were killed by a lowlife who couldn't form a snowball in a room full of snow.
My father sat back, the chair creaking under his heavyweight, "Interesting." he mumbled.
I frowned, "What is, Father?" I asked curiously. I remembered the three of the wolves from earlier, flouncing around in the snow, flirting, and wasting my time. I hated doing this job, the spying, but as the future Alpha of my pack, I had to be ready to eliminate any threat, even if that threat was a girl with spazzy power and her two ridiculous mates.
"Why is she trying to control her power now?" He questioned. I had no answer so I stayed silent. He was quiet for a few seconds before he looked up from his desk and met my eyes, "We need to take this further, we need to continue with our plan." Alpha Riddle said, his voice hard as stone, "Proceed with caution son, she is dangerous and even more so with her mates, don't doubt her skill nor theirs." he continued, his brow crinkling as he stood.
I frowned once again, "What is it you wish for me to do?" I asked. Aspen might be small and constantly angry, but I was not scared of her, her earlier example of her power was proof of that reason.
He came around the wooden desk and put a hand on my shoulder, "I want you to get to know her, make her trust you, become a part of their band of misfits." he held up an open plan the crushed his hands into a fist, "Then I want you to destroy it, burn them apart and get me the information I can use against them." he smiled and for a second my heart stopped at the intent in his eyes, at the lengths he was willing to go to to get what he wanted. This was my Alpha, but more than that, he was my Father, "I want her and her mates to be in a situation that gives me a chance to call the council, and this time when the council takes them, the three shits will stay fucking gone." He snapped, his face turning red and spit flying out of his mouth.
Aspen's face popped into my mind, her brown eyes rimmed with blue, her tan skin, her brown hair, and her rose-colored lips. I resisted the urge to pale at what the council would do to the three mates and what they had already done to them.
"Do what you need to get the job done." Alpha Riddle turned to walk around his desk, he sat down slowly and folded his hands in front of him on the table, a small smile on his lips. The lights flickered as he met my eyes, "And finish it, finish them."
The next day, I walked into school with one intent in mind, and as I laid my eyes on them, a plan formed in my mind. The Mates would fall into the hands of the council, and I would become Alpha, and the plan was just the beginning.
