Chapter 16

They arrive at Kilian's parents' house and they're greeted by Alice. Brennan says hi to Kilian but ignores Emma. She knew it was best to not start an argument because it was the first time Kilian saw his father for months so she didn't say a word. They sat at the table Kilian across his father and next to Emma. The tension in the house was high and Kilian was waiting for his father to apologize.
Brennan asks his son to follows him outside so they could talk.

"Look son I know that you didn't forgive me about Ariana's grave but you're the only one in the family who didn't, why ?"

"You really asking me why I didn't forgive you ??" Kilian says annoyed

"Yes I am, your mother and brother did"

"But I'm not them, and maybe I wait for some apologies because I didn't hear you say it"

"You're right I didn't apologize but I won't because it's your fault"

"My fault, what are you insinuating ?"

"You're the one who made me angry, you're the one who deceive me, you're the one who brought some orphan to my house, and apparently you didn't understand the lesson because you bring it again with you"

"She is a human, her name is Emma and you didn't even look at her since we arrived, I'm not asking you to think of her like a daughter, I'm asking you to respect her. I love her and she is gonna be in my life for a long time so can you make an effort for your son please." He begs him

"I'm not, she is the reason we don't talk to each other anymore"

"That's not true and you know it. Since I'm little we have a complicated relationship, you always wanted me to be like Liam but I'm not. I'm Kilian Jones and I will not let you control my choices ever again, Emma is the woman I love and you can't change that and I don't care if you approve or not."

"I always wanted what's best for you Kilian and clearly this Emma is not the right one, you always had something for orphans but you can't pity them, it's their fate if they are alone abandoned, it's because there is a reason."

"I'm not with Emma because I have pity, I'm with her because I love her. You say all those things but when we decided to adopt Ariana you weren't like this so why can't you just drops your anger towards orphans and just get to know Emma"

"Of course you are. Ariana fooled us she was a trouble girl since the beginning, she just hide it so we can adopt her but she deserves what happened to her"

"How dare you !" Kilian yells

"That's true she choose to follow him instead of listen to us so she is the only responsable"

"You have no right to say that, she was controlled by him that's why she is dead now because of him not her"

"I don't believe what you say, she made her owns choices and you know it."

"Maybe but you have no right to insult her like this, that's why I didn't forgive you because you don't regret a thing but you should because if you don't you're gonna lose me for good this time."

Kilian was about to turn around for joining Emma and Alice but his father had something else to say

"I never really had you Kilian, you were always distant with me and you're right you're not Liam, but you know even if you do what you say I'll never lose you Kilian because I don't see you as my son, I see you as a failure."

Kilian couldn't believe what his father was saying of course he always knew but hearing his father saying this hurt him so much.

"And so you know I sold Ariana' stuff because it didn't belong here. I don't keep garbage in my house"
