"Ouch. Ouch. Ouch." I repeat as Peter cleans the cut on my leg with rubbing alcohol.

"Sorry," He says worriedly, throwing away the cotton ball he was cleaning it with.

"It's okay. It's not your fault." I say, shifting uncomfortably as Peter continues to work.

"It sort of is, though." He says, and I frown. He's staring down at my leg; I can't see his face.

"Why do you say that?"

"I told your mom I would protect you. I told Mr. Stark I would protect you. I told Nat I would-"

"Jesus, Peter!" I exclaim. "I thought we went over this. Our relationship is a two way street, and I can handle myself. We should be protecting each other, but you're not, like, in charge of me. You're not Peter Parker the Protector. You weren't put on Earth to be a bodyguard." I remind him, and he nods softly, realizing I'm right. "Plus, out of all the people you think need protecting, am I really the top of your list? I mean, I'm half alien. I'm pretty fucking cool." Peter laughs.

"What are we talking about?" Thor asks, coming over as Peter puts a bandage on my leg.

"The fact that I'm half alien." I fill him in, and he nods. "Fathers, am I right?" I joke.

"My Father was King of Asgard, and before I was born, he took my sister and locked her up in a Hellish prison for centuries and never told us and then when he died, she tried to kill me and my brother." Thor says, and Peter and I stare, wide eyed.

"Are we talking about dads?" Quill asks, coming around the corner.

"Yeah," Peter says.

"My dad left me on Earth with my mom and then gave her brain cancer so he wouldn't be tempted to come back here and live with her and then when she died, he sent this guy Yondu to come get me and Yondu never delivered me to my dad, and I thought it was because he was a real asshole, but it turns out that my dad was screwing a lot of girls on different planets just to find out if they had the same powers as him and when he found out that I knew this, he tried to kill me and my friends." Quill says, and my mouth drops open.

"Oh my God," I whisper.

"Does everyone here have shitty dads?" Quill asks.

"I don't know my dad," I reply. "I mean, obviously I don't know him. That's why I'm here."

"My dad died when I was really young, but I wouldn't call him shitty. Then again, I don't really remember him." Peter says, and I give him a sympathetic look.

"My dad pinned my sister and I against each other and forced us to fight in combat all of the time and when I'd lose, he'd replace a part of me with machinery so we'd be more equally matched." Nebula says, and I jump, not even realizing she was in the room.
