How can I try to explain?

When I do he turns away again

It's always been the same, same old story

From the moment I could talk

I was ordered to listen

Now there's a way

And I know that I have to go away

I know I have to go

"I knew we should have gone to Leitner." Quill continues to boast as we board the Milano. Gamora rolls her eyes.

"Yeah, we get it Quill, you're right about everything." Rocket mumbles.

"But Quill is not right about everything." Drax protests flatly, and Rocket sighs.

"I am Groot," Groot explains, and I make it out to be something along the lines of "Quill isn't right everything and that's the point and how sarcasm works" but based on everyone's expressions it was a lot more explicit.

"Groot again with the language!" Rocket shouts.

"It's quite ridiculous." Loki agrees.

"Let's just go to Leitner and check it out," Gamora says. "We don't have time for this anymore." She exits the cockpit and is followed by everyone else except Quill. Peter beckons for me to follow, but I hold up my hand.

"Y/N, we should look for your dad there," Quill says, sliding into his seat. My head swivels in his direction excitedly. "I mean, not that I, like, expect your dad to be there, but it's a big possibility."

"Right," I say, nodding. "Right, no getting my hopes up."

"Exactly." Quill repeats. It's just us in the room and there's an awkward lull in the conversation.

"Not that I am getting my hopes up, but do you think there's an actual possibility of him being there? I mean, I only have twenty five days left on this trip, Quill, and I'm starting to get worried." I confess. Quill shakes his head.

"Chill out, Y/N. We'll find your dad. I mean, it's a huge galaxy, but he has to be somewhere." Quill says, patting me on the shoulder. I chuckle softly.

"Thanks." There's another moment of awkward silence. "So are you and Gamora...?"

"Oh, yeah. Well, I mean, we- she's- it's complicated, uh, with her. It's just complicated." Quill stammers, and I raise an eyebrow.

"But you like her, right?" I ask, and he nods.

"I mean... she's Gamora. What's not to like?" Quill says. "She's a total badass, and she's smart, and strong, and everything that a good person needs to be."

"Everything a good partner needs to be?" I ask, and he laughs, nodding.

"Sure, yeah." Quill nods. "I mean, what about Peter? For you? Like, how'd you know he was the right guy?" I raise an eyebrow.

"You realize you're about to take relationship advice from a seventeen year old, right?" I ask, and Quill rolls his eyes, nodding.
