Call me on the line, baby

Call me any, anytime

Call me, I'll arrive

You can call me any day or night

"This is gonna take a minute," Quill says, making his way over to the large table in the common area. Vers crosses her arms as we watch Quill work.

"So..." Peter says, breaking the silence. "How do you know Nick Fury?" Vers slowly turns her head towards him, not saying a word. "Not a talker. Cool. That's okay. My aunt says I talk enough for everybody." Quill presses a button and a large screen projects above the table.

"I'm gonna ring him," Quill announces, and the four of us hurry over beside him. It rings twice before Tony picks up, his face far too close to the screen.

"This better be good," He says, in a typical Tony fashion. "Having trouble babysitting my kids, Quill?"

"Don't worry about Quill, friend." Thor assures him. "He's doing a fine job. How is Earth?"

"Oh, you know," Tony says, waving a hand. "Cleaning up some HYDRA stuff, fighting crime. The usual."

"Hi, Tony!" I exclaim, waving my hand excitedly. Tony grins.

"Well, if it isn't my two favorite teens." He says. "How's space?"

"Good," Peter answers. "It's just like-"

"I need to speak with Nick Fury." Vers interjects, and Tony makes a confused face.

"I don't know you. Who are you?" He asks. "Quill, who's the blonde?"

"An old friend." She answers before Quill can say anything, giving no other explanation.

"That's it?" Tony says after a moment. "You're not giving me anymore information to go on?" Vers shakes her head and Tony sighs. "Fury's mad at me right now - something about letting two of our best members spend a summer in space - but I'll give him a ring." Tony's screen becomes smaller as he adds Fury to the call.

Peter and I wait anxiously for Fury to pick up, but soon it makes a weird beeping noise and Tony's screen goes wide again. He sighs.

"What happened?" I ask. "Why didn't he pick up?"

"Fury's irritable." Tony mutters. "Let me try it again." Same as last time, Tony's screen goes small and a black screen with dots on it comes into view. This time, on the very last ring, Fury's face appears.

To me, Nick Fury is an enigma. I've heard about him plenty of times from Natasha, and Clint, and all of the Avengers, but never before have I seen him before. Sure, I've had Peter explain him to me before, but I never expected the somewhat scary face I saw in front of me.

"Tony, you know I have-" Fury stops talking as his eyes travel to our screen. I watch him zero in on Vers and he leans forward in his chair. "...Carol?"

"Carol?" Peter whispers. Vers's face breaks into a grin.

"Fury." She says, and I watch Fury smile, something I had no idea he was capable of doing.
