There's no plan, there's no race to be run
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun
There's no plan, no kingdom to come

We wait two days for Quill to get Gamora on board, and as soon as he does so, we're speeding off to get to the Collector.
"You're totally sure you want to go through with this plan?" Peter asks uneasily as we suit up.
"Positive," I reply. "I'm not going to be in any danger. I'll be with you and Quill the whole time."
"I know," Peter says, "But-"
"No 'buts,' Peter." I warn him. "I'm so close. This man could be my dad, or know who my father is. I'm not giving that up because it could potentially be dangerous." Peter quits arguing with me and sits silently on the bed, his mask in hand.
"It's just the Collector thing, y'know?" Peter admits. "I'm nervous about it."
"Me, too," I whisper. I hear noises coming from outside and tilt my head towards them. "We better go before Gamora yells at us for keeping them off schedule." Peter grins and follows me out of the bedroom.
"-second thoughts."
"Second thoughts aren't allowed right now!" Quill explodes in Rocket's direction. "Stop being a pussy."
"I'm not being a pussy!" Rocket exclaims. "I'm not worried about myself, I'm worried about Groot."
"Groot's staying on the Milano," Quill replies. "So are you." Rocket rolls his eyes.
"Like they're not gonna check the ship when we get there." Rocket mutters.
"There's no need," Quill crosses his arms. "We're bringing Groot to him. No one else will be there to check the ship."
"I can't believe you're making me dress up like the tree," Talos grumbles, and I jump, almost forgetting the plan.
"Woah," Peter says, taking him in.
"I am Groot," Groot agrees as he enters the room.
"I think Loki looks fabulous," I say with a grin.
"This is so weird," Peter whispers.
"Oh, come on," Loki says, peering through eyes that match mine, "I think Y/N's right. I do look fabulous." He spins in a circle, making me laugh.
"Is that what my voice sounds like?" I ask, and Rocket nods irritably.
"The Collector is waiting," Gamora says coldly, entering the room. I notice a sharp knife tucked into her side. Her eyes roll over Loki and I suspiciously. "Which one of you is the real Y/N?"
"I am," Loki and I say at the same time. I shoot him a look.
"Cut it out, Loki," Quill warns, and Loki grins, changing back into himself.
"Fine," He says. "But that is so much fun." I roll my eyes with a grin.
"I'll put my hair up in a ponytail," I suggest, pulling my hair towards the top of my head. "That way we'll be able to tell us apart."
"Good idea," Gamora says. "Now let's leave before I change my mind."

Peter, Quill and I watch from a distance as Loki, Gamora, Thor and Talos approach "I really hope this works, Quill," I mutter.
"Me, too." He replies. I watch as the Collector reaches Gamora. His arms are wide in a welcoming position and although he's far I can tell there's a smile on his face.
"Is Gamora gonna be okay?" Peter asks nervously. "She can handle this, right?"
"If anyone can, it's her. Don't worry." Quill confirms, and Peter nods.
"Gayle, zoom in, please," I whisper, and the image of the Collector in my camera grows. I watch as the Collector's eyes fall upon Loki. He traces his hand against the side of her cheek and I shudder, imagining what it would be like if this was real.
"They're walking away," Peter says, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Time to move." Quill says.
"Where exactly are we moving to?" Peter asks as Quill stands. The two of us stand, too.
"The Collector keeps his... belongings out in the open." Quill says, walking lightly on his tip-toes. "They're not hidden or anything, and they're all labeled, like a god damn chump."
"That's helpful." I mutter.
"And whatever you do, don't interact with them. We don't know how they'll react to us even being here but they could alert someone of our presence so just ignore them when you can." Quill warns.
"Do we even know what Ego looks like?" Peter asks as we cautiously enter the main room.
"Use the labels, Peter." Quill says, semi annoyed.
"Right." We split off into three directions - me on the left, Quill in the middle, and Peter on the right - and walk slowly and quietly as we look around.
Odd creatures and beings I have never seen before surround me, and I try not to make eye contact or even look in their direction other than to gaze at their name plaques.
Not staring proves to be incredibly difficult as we snake around the open space quietly. To my surprise, the beings behind the glass don't try to interact with me, and I'm grateful since I probably wouldn't know how to interact if they did.
I hear faint whispering coming from another part of the room and freeze, but the whispers die down after a moment. I peek around the corner to look at where Gamora and the Collector left, but there's no green skin or spiky white hair anywhere, so I know I'm in the clear.
"Guys!" Peter whispers from across the room, voice urgent. "I found him!" Quill and I run as quietly as we can over to Peter, who stands with his back to us. "This is him, right? Alter-Ego?"
The man Peter is looking at has graying hair and a beard. He looks unkept and there are deep shadows under his eyes, but he smiles at us nonetheless like he's gotten perfect sleep every night for the past twelve years of his life.
"Holy shit," Quill mutters next to me.
"Hey, kids," Alter-Ego says. "I hear one of you might be my kid?"
