'Cause I, I'm in love with my future
Can't wait to meet her
And I, I'm in love
But not with anybody else
Just wanna get to know myself

"So?" I ask, my leg tapping restlessly against the floor of the lab. Peter squeezes my hand as Carol and King Yan stand in front me. They share a look.
"...They still have no idea." My face falls as Carol's words hit my ears.
"Oh." I say. It's all I can say.
"I'm sorry my lab could not be of service," King Yan apologizes sincerely. "I thought it would fulfill its dutiful purpose."
"It's okay," I say, struggling to compose myself. Nothing's changed, so why am I so upset?
"We better get going." Quill says from behind me. He places a supportive hand on my shoulder. "But thanks for the help." King Yan nods, and we head back towards the ship.
"Thank you for your help anyways," I say, offering King Yan a hug. He accepts it graciously, squeezing back. We leave the palace for good and make our way towards the ship, the sunlight surrounding us once again.
"You're disappointed." Mantis says, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. "And... relieved." Her antennae glow lightly above her head.
I give a strange choke of a laugh. "I don't think it's possible to feel both of those things at the same time."
"Of course it is," She insists. "You're living proof." Out of all of the Guardians, Mantis is probably the one I've spent the least amount of time with, but after this statement, I want to wrap her in a tight hug and never let go.
"Sorry it didn't work out, kid," Rocket says, and I can tell he genuinely means what he's saying. I give an careless shrug.
"It's fine. We've still got some time left on this trip." I say, and he gives me a weary look.
"Yeah, but you're still disappointed." He says. "Don't worry, I get it. It's valid." He looks around. "Where's your boyfriend?" I point up ahead where Peter is chatting adamantly with Carol.
"I'm sure they're sharing their best Nick Fury stories." I say. "I think I was bumming Peter out. That or I'm just not in the mood to talk about Earth right now." Rocket nods.
"Well, if you want to talk sometime, I'm not always a dick. So you can come find me." He says, and I'm surprised by his empathy.
"Only if you're not in a dicky mood though, right?" I joke, a small smile on my lips. He nods with a grin.
"Obviously."
"So like, a 90% chance that I can't talk to you. That's what you're saying."
"You think I'm a dick 90% of the time?" He asks, still smiling.
"Eh, I think I'm being generous." I say, and he laughs as we get onto the ship.

"Hey," Peter says, coming up behind me. He plants a kiss on the top of my head. I place my book down gently in front of me. "You're rereading that book again?"
"Hi," I say, watching as he sits down on the bed across from me. "I brought two books with me, I didn't expect us to have so much downtime. Where have you been?"
"Oh, you know," He waves a hand. "I was just talking to everyone." I grin at him.
"You were telling them the plot of Star Wars, weren't you?"
"I was 100% doing that, yes." I laugh, and so does Peter.
"I knew it. I knew I heard the Main Title coming from the other room." I say, and he laughs again.
"Drax and Loki got surprisingly into it. It was actually very entertaining." He says. "How are you feeling?"
I shrug. "I'm fine. I'm not feeling anything in particular."
"Yeah, well, I wanted to give you some space, and although I know you want to spend all of your time with because you love me, I thought I would hang back for a few hours." I laugh at his sarcasm and nod.
"You're a really good boyfriend." He brightens at my compliment.
"I know," He says. "And because I'm such a good boyfriend, I've been thinking." I raise an eyebrow.
"Oh?"
"About college." He continues. "I mean, it's senior year, Y/N. We're applying this year." I nod.
"I tried to block that from my mind, to be honest," I say.
"Have you heard of Empire State University?" He asks, and I blink.
"Obviously I've heard of Empire, Peter." It's one of the biggest universities in the country, right in Manhattan.
"We could both apply to Empire, get in, go through college together, keep fighting as Spiderman and Prophet, blah blah blah. I mean, think about that. How awesome would that be?"
"It would be pretty awesome," I agree with half a laugh, imagining our perfect college experience.
"MJ and Ned are thinking of applying, too. I spoke to them before I left. I mean, obviously we need to apply to other schools," He continues. "I'm applying to MIT, I know you want to apply to Caltech, but-"
"Peter." I cut him off. "It's the perfect plan." He breaks out into a grin and runs across to me, lifting me off of the bed. I squeal with delight as he turns me around and places me softly on the ground again.
"You're a great girlfriend," He says, and I laugh.
"Oh, don't worry," I say. "I already know that information." He kisses me.
"I want this to be the best senior year in the history of senior years," He says. "And that includes getting into college together."
"I honestly can't wait." I reply. "The Adventures of Spiderman and Prophet Vol. 2: Braving College." He laughs.
"Oh, come on, we've faced worse." He reminds me, and I nod, intertwining my hand with his as we sit back down on the bed. I place my head on his shoulder.
"That's true," I say. "And at least we won't be doing it alone. At least I'll always have you." He smiles, coming in for a kiss, and smiling myself, I gladly accept it.
(A/N: Sorry for not updating as much!! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter and I have a really exciting plan for the next one which I hope to release this weekend!)
