A smile relieves a heart that grieves

Remember what I said

I'm not waiting on a lady

I'm just waiting on a friend

"Finally!" Rocket exclaims as we return. All of our friends are quite literally locked up in a crate, and from the looks of it, there is not a lot of room.

"We worked out a deal," Quill announces. Carol waves a hand and two Skrull quickly unlock the crate. The group comes spilling out uncomfortably, obviously grateful to be free.

"I'm a friend of Nick Fury's." Carol says.

"He's from Earth," Peter fills in. "He runs S.H.I.E.L.D."

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Drax questions.

"Strategic Homeland Interventions, Enforcement, and Logistics Divison." Peter says, and I give him a look. He shrugs innocently. "What? I do my research." I roll my eyes affectionately.

"They basically take care of any extraterrestrial threats on Earth," I simplify.

"Like me," Thor supplies.

"Or me." Loki raises a hand for emphasis.

"Or me." Carol finishes. "I came to Earth a while ago and Fury helped me out. I owe him a debt of gratitude and I need his help again."

"Vers - sorry, Carol, is going to come on the ship with us. So is Talos. We're going to bring them both back to Earth with Peter and Y/N so they can work out a game plan with Fury there." Quill says, and I watch as Gamora stares at him, blinking once.

"Absolutely not," She says, walking out of the room.

"Gamora!" Quill calls, running after her.

"She'll come to her senses," Thor assures Carol, placing a hand on her shoulder warmly. "You'll be with us in no time." She gives him half a smile.

"It was nice seeing Tony again," Peter says, turning to me. I nod.

"I wish I could have seen Nat, though." I say, and Peter gives me a sad smile. "I really miss her."

"I know."

"I miss them all," Peter laments. "As crazy as it sounds, I miss Bucky and Sam's constant teasing." I grin.

"I miss Wanda's cake."

"The one from your birthday?" Peter tilts his head with a smile. I nod, thinking back to the chocolatey goodness that was the cake from my seventeenth birthday party.

"It was a good cake." I say, and Peter's smile widens.

"It was," He agrees. "I mean, I had to get punched to actually get to eat it, but it was totally worth it." He says, and I laugh.

"Yeah," I say, tracing my finger along his face from when I punched him all those months ago. "Totally worth it."

"I miss Clint," Peter confesses. "He told me he would teach me about his trick arrows this summer." I frown.

"Sorry I robbed you of that," I say, and he shrugs.

"When your girlfriend asks you to go to space with her, it's not really something you can say no to." He says, grinning again.

"Good point." I say. "I miss Steve, too. I actually miss him yelling at us about our explicit language." Peter rolls his eyes.

"It never gets old," He says in agreement.

"What's taking them so long?" Carol asks, coming up beside us. Her eyes are fixated on where Quill left chasing after Gamora.

"Gamora's kinda... well, I don't think there's a word for it," Peter says, his eyes trained on the same spot.

"She'll come around." I say. "I've got a feeling."

"If Y/N has a feeling, that's probably a good sign." Peter says, nudging me slightly. I break into an embarrassed smile.

"Are these two them?" A Skrull comes into sight behind Carol. She turns towards him slightly.

"Y/N, Peter, this is Talos. Talos, this is Y/N and Peter. They're from Earth. They know Fury." Carol introduces. Peter and I wave politely.

"Nice to meet you," I say. Talos gives us a small smile, but turns to Carol skeptically.

"We're trusting the lives of many with two teenagers?" He says to her, and Peter and I share a partially hurt look.

"Fury trusts them." Carol insists. "We can trust them, too."

"Plus," Peter adds. "If you were gonna trust any teenagers on Earth with... what was it you said? 'The lives of many?' Yeah, we're the teenagers to trust on that one." I nod adamantly in agreement. Talos gives us an unconvinced look.

"Peter's like a spider and I'm half alien," I fill in, and he nods slightly. "We have super powers. We're kind of like Avengers."

"A-What now?" Talos says, turning to Carol.

"Earth is a lot different than when we were there," She says, placing a hand on his shoulder. Quill and Gamora finally emerge after a few more minutes. Gamora looks furious, but Quill is smiling triumphantly.

"She said yes!" He exclaims. "To Carol and Talos coming, I mean. I didn't like propose or anything."

"I am Groot," Groot says positively.

"It's about time," Rocket grumbles. "I thought we were never gonna get out of here. Especially now that we have the entirety of the god damn Kree nation on our asses."

"Chill out," Quill reprimands, sticking out his hand for emphasis. "We'll be fine."

"Can we go back to the ship now?" Loki asks, tapping his foot. Gamora nods, leading the group back towards the Milano.

"What took you so long?" Drax asks Quill as we begin to walk. "I thought you were never gonna convince her."

"I promised her the best sex of her life," Quill says, a sly grin on his face. It's quickly met with the most intimidating look I've ever seen in my entire life coming from Gamora, and his face quickly falls. He swallows. "I didn't do that. That was a joke." Gamora turns her back towards Quill once again, and he turns towards me. "I totally did that." He mouths, and I laugh quietly.

"Well, this is gonna be fun." Rocket says. "Three Asgardians, two teenagers from the garbage planet, and a Skrull and blonde chick wanted by one of the most powerful planets in the galaxy. This isn't gonna blow up in our faces."
