(Pit's POV)
Yawning, I rubbed my eyes and hopped out of bed. After a good night's sleep, I was once again on my A-game. "Oh yeah, I'm back!"
That's when I stopped in my tracks. Memories of the previous night rolled through my head as if my brain had a built-in movie theater. Which would be cool if it did because then I could binge lots of movies while I go on a mission. But I was quickly snapped back to the point, that being ... "AAA!!!"
"What is it, Pit?!" Lady Palutena ran down the hall and peeked her head in. "Are you ok?"
"Uh... um. I don't wanna talk about it," I turned around.
She walked over to me and put a hand on my forehead. "Pit you're burning up. I think you have a fever."
"What? I feel fine, Lady Palutena," I argued.
"Look, I know that you want to get out of the infirmary, but you need to rest," Lady Palutena said what I didn't want to hear and sent me to my room to sleep. I just wanted to go outside and talk to (Y/n). Was too much to ask?
With the slight thought of the night before, my face heat up like 20 degrees. It wasn't my fault, I wasn't thinking straight. The thing that bothered me the most was how I had the courage to kiss her. I didn't even ask or anything, and I just left after that. 'Man, she probably hates me. Well, she couldn't hate me. Aphrodite's necklace should make sure of that.
At the party:
"Pit is that you?" I heard a cheery voice call my name as I picked up a roll from the buffet table.
"Hi, Aphrodite," I waved with my mouth full.
"Pit, it's not attractive to talk with your mouth full of food," she laughed. "You should know better."
"Sorry," I swallowed and smiled. That's when (Y/n)'s blue dress caught the corner of my eye, causing me to look at her. She looked so happy when she wasn't worried. It was like she was a whole different person. I hadn't noticed, but the goddess next to me was trying to pin-point who I was looking at.
"OOO, someone's gotta cRuUuSh," she told me in a sing-song voice.
"It's not any better when you point it out," I scratched my cheek.
"Well, lucky for you, I'm in the business of crushes. That is, if you want my assistance," she ominously left the offer to float in my mind.
"That's nice of you, but I think that I'm ok," I politely turned her down. Lady Palutena always told me to never mess with love or to force feelings. That was Cupid's job.
"Wait, don't look now, but I think she's talking to Dark Pit," the goddess whisper in my ear, looking in (Y/n)'s direction. "What a shame, she's very pretty."
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, whipping my head in the (H/c)-haired girl's direction as well. She was in fact talking to Dark Pit and looking delighted as she did. I looked exactly like him, but I was original and nice and determined and funny. Then she laughed at a joke he had made, and I started to doubt my sense of humor. It was weird that I didn't feel mad, just sad that I wasn't even invited. She didn't look at me with adoring eyes anymore. It's like the more she saw me, the more we drifted apart, and I didn't know what to do. There wasn't a way to make her excited about seeing me at all. And why him of all people?
"It means, that your twins gonna capture her affection first, Pit!" Aphrodite spelled out for me. "But you obviously don't want her bad enough that you would use all the resources available to you."
"Well... she looks happy with him anyway," still staring at the two of them, I sighed. Aphrodite just stood there, unamused, as she watched my depressing state.
"Alright, have a nice life," the goddess said in the same cheerful voice as she walked away. I kept staring when (Y/n) did a twirl in her dress. Pitoo must have complimented it. I didn't know he gave compliments.
That's when it clicked. "Aphrodite! I take it back, I need you!"
She turned around, smirking. "That's what I thought."
"Please, please tell me what I need to do!" I begged the goddess. "I can't live with her liking Dark Pit."
"Here, try this first," she took the necklace around her neck off and handed it to me. "Give this to her."
"What is this going to do?" I asked, totally confused.
"The red pendent is strategic to this operation because red subconsciously triggers a human's brain to think more romantically upon seeing it," she explained.
"And that is going to make her fall in love with me?" I questioned.
"Not exactly, but it will trigger something in her subconscious that you are romantic by simply giving her something red," the goddess cleared up. "That's why it's common to give someone you love flowers, and even why Valentine's Day is associated with reds and pinks of all shades."
"That makes sense," I replied, admiring the pretty necklace. "Is there anything else that I can do?"
"Hm," she thought for a second. "While you give her the necklace, make sure to quickly glance at her lips from time to time."
"What? Why?" I could feel my face heat up at how weird that was.
"It's human psychology. When you look at someone's lips, it lets them know that you are interested in them and will make them think about kissing you. That then makes them feel attracted to you subconsciously, even if they aren't at the moment," Aphrodite had an awful lot of knowledge to flex. "But if making eye contact is comfortable for you, then that is also a great option because it shows them that you are listening to them carefully."
"Good to know," I sighed, relieved that looking at her lips was the only option.
"Last thing, whatever you do, DON'T look at her forehead!" such words caught me even more off guard.
"Um, what exactly would I do by looking at her forehead," I questioned her, raising a brow.
"If you look at someone's forehead for too long, it can make them feel self-conscious and want to run to the nearest bathroom to fix it," Aphrodite laughed. "You can try it on Dark Pit if you ever have the time."
"Oh yeah, I could do that during a fight and distract him!" my eyes lit up at the thought of beating Pitoo.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Aphrodite cheered. "Now, contact me whenever you need advice, and make sure you are alone when you give her the necklace. Got all of that?"
"Yeah, I think," I replied, not fully knowing the answer. Aphrodite proceeded to give me a thumbs up and a big smile as she walked back into the crowd.
Present time:
The scene of giving (Y/n) the necklace replayed in my head so many times. I tried looking at her lips, but I guess that made me want to kiss her instead. How did I mess it up so badly?!
Then I heard footsteps running down the hall and burst through the door. "PIT! (Y/N)'S MISSING!"
