"Are you about to kiss me?" I ask taking a step back and pulling my hand away.

"Umm... Well... Ha... You see..." He struggled to get the words out as he began to blush. "No. Why would you think that?" He asked sticking his hands in his pockets and avoiding eye contact.

"No reason..." I reply shaking my head.

"Frankie are you even listening to me?" Danae said throwing a pillow at my head.

"Yes I am listening don't freaking throw crap at me." I said throwing the pillow back at her and hitting her in the face. Danae came over right after school and has been trying to convince me to go to the party tonight for the past hour.

"Get your head out of the clouds. Seriously come on. Please just come." she said turning my stereo on and plopping down on my bed. "It's gonna be fun and you need to have fun."

She had a point, it had been a long time since I had actually had fun. It's senior year and I spent the first half of the year sitting next to a hospital bed watching my best friend die. It's now the second and last semester of high school and I do want to have some fun before graduation.

"I don't know..." I answered hesitantly. "Kyle is gonna be there and things are kinda awkward between us right now."

"Wait, what are you talking about?" Danae asked jumping up. "You aren't friends with Kyle, never have been. So how are things awkward?"

"Well..." I began as I got up from my chair and walked into my bathroom. Grabbing my hair brush I began to brush my "I've lasted though school, fix me" hair. "Well he kinda showed up at my house yesterday and then when I went for my run I saw him again. Also he tried to kiss me..." I said mumbling the last part.

"Did I just hear that correctly?" She said walking from my bed towards my bathroom. "Did you just say that KYLE HENDERSON tried to kiss you?"

"Maybe..."

"Oh my god! Oh my god!" She started screaming jumping up and down. "Kyle Henderson is ridiculous! I mean it like some guys just never change." She said running back over to my stereo and putting on "Boomerang" by The Summer Set on full blast. My mom was still at work and Travis had practice and then would be heading to dinner with the guys. Danae started dancing around before opening my bottom dresser drawer and grabbing the tequila her older brother had bought us last summer. She poured us both a glass and danced her way towards my bathroom before taking my hand and pulling me back into my room. She handed me my glass and took a sip of hers.

We danced around, laughing and just being our normal teenage girls self. This is how things were before back when we first became friends, of course the tequila used to be cherry cokes and Hot Cheetos, but we were growing up and cherry coke wasn't gonna cut it anymore.

"Please come tonight. Who gives a shit what Kyle thinks, you should go just to spite him."

"Fine babe, fine I will go as long as you don't let me do anything stupid." I said running to my closet to find something suitable to wear.

"Frankie I would never let you do something stupid. Well nothing too stupid." Danae said pouring herself another drink. "This will be the best night ever."
