He was still asleep when I woke up at 7:45 pm. I thought about getting up and get some snacks at the vending machine when I realized that I couldn't move. Kyle had his arm draped over my stomach and was holding onto my waist. He was holding on tight enough that I couldn't move but there was still a good amount of space between our bodies. After about 15 minutes of staring at his sleeping face, I gave up rolled onto my side, facing away from him and closed my eyes again.

"Hey, Frankie." Kyle whispered quietly in the dark hotel room.

"What?" I whispered back now half asleep.

"You look beautiful in the morning." He was sitting up, looking over me trying to see my face.

"You're an idiot." I said turning over, shoving my right hand into his face and pushing him away from me. He fell back onto the bed.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"You just did, genius."

"Are you attracted to me?" I looked at him, dumbfounded. It was dark but not dark enough to hide his huge smile.

"Kyle I'm gonna punch you. Also get you hand off my waist!" I half yelled half whispered pushing his hand off me. It hit the mattress with a hard thud.

"Sorry, I sleep with a ton of pillows and I guess it's just habit to be holding onto something while I sleep." He said scooting closer to the edge of the bed and father away from me. I thought of my own bed cover with about 5 regular pillows and one body pillow that I surround myself with while sleeping. "You didn't answer my question though."

"I'm aware of that. Why would you even ask me that?"

"I'm curious."

"Well Kyle, you know what they say about cats."

"So I'm a cat? Like a cool cat?" He said laughing.

"No actually I thinking more of a pussy cat." I said rolling over to the edge of the bed and got out. I walked over to my bag and grabbed the light sweater I had packed, pulling it over my sleeping shirt and leggings.

"Wow that hurt." He said putting his hand over his heart over dramatically. "Where you going anyway?" He asked as I grabbed my room key and put on my sandals.

"I'm freakin starving." I said walking towards the door. I had picking up my purse and was about to push the door open when I heard him call out.

"Wait! I'm hungry too." He jumped out of bed and grabbing a shirt from his backpack. "Alright let's go."

"Um... Kyle." I said looking back at him giggling.

"What?"

"You gonna put some pants on?" He looked down at his dark blue boxers and ran back over to his backpack grabbing some blue jeans. He looked like a spaz, hopping around trying to pull them up quickly. He slipped on his black Vans and grabbed his wallet.

"Okay now we can go."

We checked both vending machines on our floor for something to eat with no such luck. A few candy bars and a bag of chips just weren't gonna cut it. We got in Kyle's jeep and began the hunt for some real food. We finally found a Denny's, parked the car and quickly went inside.

"Holy shit!" Kyle yelled as we made it to the door. He was rubbing his hands up and down his bare arms. "I underestimated how cold it was tonight."

"Kyle it's February, when the sun goes down it gets cold."

"Ha, wow darlin' not only are you pretty but also smart." He said in a fake southern accent. He pulled the door open and gesture for me to go in first.

"Well I can't depend on a man to offer me his jacket so I have to make sure I'm prepared."

"I'd offer you my jacket." He said following me inside.

"What a gentlemen!" I giggled. "Except you don't have a jacket to offer." He rolled his eyes before walking up to the hostess. She grabbed two menus and lead us to a tiny two seater table, after handing us the menus and informing us that our waitress would be there soon, she left.

"I can't even remember the last time I was at a Denny's." I said looking down at my menu.

"Yeah well when our little town doesn't have one I can't imagine you venturing too far from home to get it."

"Are you implying that I don't ever leave town?"

"Yes that's exactly what I'm implying." He shot back as our waitress appeared. She began her little speech about how her name was Brandy and she would be helping us tonight. After getting our drink order she walked off leaving Kyle and I alone.

"She's adorable." He said as she made her way towards the kitchen. Honestly he was correct, she was adorable. She was about 4'11, probably a size 2 and also about 57 years old. She reminded me of the fairy godmother from my copy of Cinderella that my mother used to read to me.

"Yeah, she is. We have to give her a big tip." I said looking back down at my menu.

"Here you go." Brandy said as she placed our drinks down on the table. "Is the happy couple ready to order?" She asked pulling out her pad of paper and pen.

"Oh, we aren't a couple." I said shaking my head.

"Oh I'm sorry, I just assumed." She apologized.

"It's fine, honestly. We are just friends."

"Well she is but I'm still trying to figure some stuff out." Kyle said winking. Brandy giggled and then got our food order.

"What the hell was that supposed to mean?" I asked after she was gone.

"Just that you're convinced that we are just friends."

"And you're not?"

"I'm not sure if we are even friends, honey." He said smiling.

"Whatever." I responded rolling my eyes. Man did he know how to get under my skin.
