Hello hello, my dear readers!
I hope you are all doing well. I know it's been a while since you've heard from me and I hope you are still excited about this story.
I have spent the last few months writing out all of my notes for the next few chapters completely. This story is slowly coming to its end (don't worry there are still many chapters to come) and I'm excited to show you what I have in store.
Anyways without further ado...
Here is Chapter 22 - "revelations"
___________________________________________________________
When the foggy cloud emptied itself of all the built-in mind gutter and the sun and the accompanying light cleared all loose dots – connecting the ends like magnets sticking to each other – Aline felt lightness and clarity as she never had before – or not in a very long time anyway. When Kayla had unveiled the repressed memories and connections to Aline, understanding that everything they knew had links towards Kayla's long-lost friend Dorea and that she might be in Bulgaria – hell even Semeĭstvo – a mixture of confusion and relief mixed itself in both of their bodies, manifesting as shivers and flushes.
Upon all this information, the two friends decided that they had finally collected enough evidence and ideas to consult the headmaster for an appointment – a private discussion of the uppermost importance to the both of them, and they hoped that those feelings would be reciprocated by the wise mighty wizard that was head of the school. They were now standing in front of a dark wooden door inside the dungeons of the basement of the school, next to their Common Room – the wood slightly creaking for some reason. The headmaster was hardly ever able to be found by students themselves, so to Kayla's & Aline's annoyance, they had to consult the head of their house Slytherin first – Severus Snape.
They both stared at the dark wooden door as if they did so enough, it would open by itself. None of the two wanted to put their hands on the dark material staring back at them – they weren't quite sure what to say to the person behind the door, but they knew they would keep the sharing of their knowledge to a minimum – just enough so that they'd be able to get the appointment without revealing too much information.
They still didn't trust anyone – not even the teachers and to some extent... Aline didn't trust anyone but herself and Damien. She felt selfish for this as she knew how much Kayla had invested into helping her but still – she had been betrayed, so often she felt like she had to expect the unexpected even if it made her gut clench.
"What are we waiting for?" Kayla whispered nervously.
"You knock" Aline said quickly.
"What? No way! You do it!" Kayla responded, crossing her arms in front of her chest defensively.
Aline sighed and stared at Kayla with a raised eyebrow before they both burst out laughing. The ridiculousness of the fact that Snape was enough for them to be scared at that moment – even though both had been through way worse – gripped them at the same time. Before they could finish their laughter and decide who would do the deed of knocking on the creaking dark wood, the matter was solved for them as a gush of wind blew through the corridor and the door swung open.
"What is the meaning of this get-together?" a voice hissed that belonged to no other but Severus Snape.
Aline cleared her throat before speaking confidently: "We would like to request an appointment with the headmaster, Professor."
Upon hearing this, Snape's mouth twisted into a way that in every other person could only be described as a frown, but for him, it was more like a resentful smirk. They knew this was going to happen – Snape had a tendency not to take students' requests very seriously.
