It was already past one o'clock when the Gryffindor students had returned from their trip to Diagon Alley. The circular; dark crimson, and gold decorated Common Room seemed to glow even more brightly in the afternoon light. Few students were seated around the roaring orange fire ignited in the brick fireplace, discussing the upcoming winter event. Although it was only the end of October and the Yule Ball was almost two months away it seemed to be the number topic on every student's mind.
Fred Weasley was waiting for his twin brother George by one of the larger windows that covered the room, gazing down onto the rather stern school terrains. The snow had dissolved in the sunlight, yet the air still felt rather cold when he had returned from Diagon Alley with his dress robes. The robes themselves were fairly modest, but he preferred them that way. Fred was too concentrated staring down the window to notice someone positioning themselves behind him. Suddenly a faint tap on the shoulder ripped him out of his thoughts. He recognized that his brother was standing behind him.
"Time is Galleons, little brother" Fred grinned teasingly while spinning around, shaking his head and crossing his muscular arms in front of his chest.
Fred's eyes widened when he recognized that it was not his twin brother George standing in front of him but Angelina. Fred dropped his crisscrossed arms and raised his eyebrows before taking a few steps forward, wanting to walk away from her. But before he could, Angelina moved beside him, preventing him from stepping away any further.
"Listen Fred. I'm sorry. You were sending mixed signals. I did not mean to make you uncomfortable. Anyways as an apology, I wanted to ask you if you'd like to go to the ball with me?", Angelina muttered while placing her arms onto her hips.
Fred could not comprehend what he was gathering, he felt as if his ears were deceiving him, it felt like complete dishonesty.
"Sorry, Angie but I already asked Aline. Maybe next time" Fred replied coldly before marching past her, not granting her even the tiniest of looks. Angelina waited where she stood, she felt astonishingly ashamed and did not comprehend why Fred had changed so extremely in the past month. She assumed that Fred must still feel something towards her. In a desperate way to win him back, she had the perfect scheme on how to mess with him.
