Chapter 14: Great Actress

I am still leaning in the window and didn't even flinch a little because of the sudden intruders, with my arms crossed above my chest and eyes directly piercing them.

In my peripheral vision, I saw how Cynce hides her sly smile. She set this up. Talking to me as if she was all alone in this house when in fact she's not. Does she really think she could fool me? I've been foolish enough in my whole life to notice this.

I only focused on the intruders who interrupted our conversation when one of them started to walk towards my direction while the others followed her. It was Rianne who talk first.

"Is it true? All of it?" she asked with her teary blue-green eyes. She can't contain her emotions within herself and because of that, she reminds me of my old self. The soft and weak-hearted version of mine.

Behind her was Ainslee, Cynthia and Lune with a familiar guy from my past. His signature sleek raven black hair, lean body built, grayish gentle eyes and a fair complexion. My former right hand, Zaden. It's been a long time since I last saw him.

"Why are still asking for the questions you already know the answers?"

A tear escaped from Rianne's eyes while looking directly at me. "You are pretending all this time? Why? You know we needed your help, the empire needs you. But you choose to run away," Ainslee bitterly said with her cold eyes.

I stared at her blankly. "You think I would help you in exchange of how you treated me back then? Is that why you are searching for the angel who didn't want to be found? Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not helping anyone."

After what happened years ago, they are still expecting me to help them? To help the ones who made me miserable like this? They've got to be kidding me.

"Why? Why you didn't want to help the empire your ancestors have been taking care of for a very long time? It is your home and someone is destroying it, with the angels living there. Don't you even care about the innocent lives that might endanger? Are you really that heartless?!" Rianne exclaim while her tears continuously flowing in her cheeks, tears of fury and frustration. Ainslee is still eyeing me with her cold chocolate brown eyes, while the other three angels are silently listening to us.

I shook my head, straightening my posture from leaning in the window and face her without any emotions. Her shoulders fell and her tears flow more, same with Ainslee who looked crestfallen.

Home. I don't think I still have that anymore. A place where I can breathe freely, feel secured and be safe. Or a creature who will make my life worth living, who will give a lively and cozy feeling despite the difficulties we may encounter.

The one I've been longing to feel and to have again.

Rianne left the room in tears while Ainslee remained in her position, staring at me with her skeptical eyes. "I can't believe we met a heartless creature like you. You didn't even care to the creatures who have been caring for you. I guess you are really wicked just like what you are that night.  You did a great job in faking it all."

Then, she walked out of the room. But before she leave, she left me some of her words. "I can't believe I was being fooled. What a great actress you can be."

Everything inside this room fell in silence. I saw how Cynthia motioned the guys to follow the girls. They're hesitating to move but when Cynce nodded at them, they quickly followed them.

Cynthia comfortably lay herself in the long couch, taking a deep breath. "I can't believe they will burst out like that."

"You triggered them to explode like that. You shouldn't do that way. You can strengthen them physically, sure it will be a long process atleast it is safe. But you targeted them emotionally," Cynce squinted her eyes while looking at me. I rolled my eyes at her and waved my hand infront of her face to stopped her from doing that.

I joined Cynthia in laying in another couch. I can now move freely without minding the wounds on my back, thanks to the healing potion I take awhile ago.

Cynthia's eyes widened because of what she heard from her mother. "W-what?!" She quickly get up from laying, shock is evident in her face while slowly turning to face me. "You did that to make them stronger?"

Cynce laugh at her daughter's reaction. "Remember what Eclipse told you the first time you saw each other in your school? It was a vision, honey. This was meant to happen, she didn't saw the whole scenerio but she already have an idea."

"You didn't told me it was a vision! I thought you are threatening me that time!" Cynthia exclaim, still looking at me.

I shrugged. "Why would I tell it you? You can saw visions as well, more vivid than what I can. You should have seen that."

Cynthia is silently throwing a tantrums while Cynce is laughing at her daughther's frustrations. When the first time we met in school, I know she already recognized me and she also knows I recognized her as well. And I confirmed her theory that I didn't lost my memories when I mentioned to her our grandmother.

Wilhelmina, the dark angel who holds the power of foreseeing the future is our grandmother in mother side. Cynce inherited this power from her while Freesia inherited the power of their father, making Cynthia the inheritor of this power in our generation. While me, I only have minimal of it since I'm not the choosen holder of that power.

It was a rare type of ability nowadays, making the two of them wanted because of their skills because it only runs in Wilhelmina's bloodline.

We only stopped when Cynthia suddenly stood up and walk towards the door.

"Hey, where are you going?" Cynce innocently asked Cynthia as if she didn't pissed her daughter off awhile ago. I shook my head because of the childishness of this two. I think I have to endure their cat-and-dog fight for awhile.

Cynthia huriedly fixed her messy hair into a bun. "I'm going back to the mansion. I couldn't accept it if they're going to be stronger than me. No way!" she childishly exclaimed and quickly left the room.

I sighed deeply while massaging my temples. "She didn't change at all. Still the competitive but childish Cynthia I know a long time ago."

Cynce laughed because of what I've said. "All of them didn't change. From the tiny little angels I know back then until now, a fine woman and man they turned. You're the only one who changed a lot  among the little angels, who everybody saw playing in the palace's courtyard almost everyday."

I smiled bitterly when she reminiscence that memory.

Lune, Zaden, Rianne, Ainslee and Cynthia were the little angels I saw back then in the palace's window, playing happily in the courtyard. It was also them, who accepted me wholeheartedly despite my strong dissimilarities to them. They were the children of the members of the council that time, that's why they're always there, forcing me to play with them until I enjoyed their company.

My childhood was memorable because of them. But now, we act like it's our first time to meet with each other, but I act greater than them.

I was indeed the great actress in our play.
