"OK so you're telling me, a demon killed your whole family, but turned your sister into one. But she doesn't hurt people I guess. And you all are 'demon slayers' and you kill demons. Cause that makes sense" you say sarcastically.
"I know it's hard to explain, but it's all true." Tanjiro explains
"Ok... but none of that explains why I'm here"
"We rescued you from a demon named Akane. A nature demon we found in shinrin forest. By the time we found you, you were already unconscious and pretty beat up" Zenitsu replies
"You had a wisteria flower attached to your arm. Took 47 hits with a blade before it cut loose. Must have been Akanes work. Possibly warding off other demons so she could save you for later" tanjiro adds
"And demons do that?" You ask.
"Not all the time. But some demons like to save a few souls for a snack later" He replies
"That's very off putting" You say. "Also, if the demon was already dead, wouldn't it be easier to cut the wisteria plant"
Well that's the thing, we haven't killed the demon yet. And we suspect it's been hunting for you ever since" Zenitsu added
The feeling of being hunted worries you. But at the same time, your relieved that two demon slayers are looking out for you.
"Wait, why is Akane hunting ME down"
"Well we think you might be important to her. She put up one hell of a fight trying to keep us from reaching you" says tanjiro. Pointing at a deep slash in his forearm
"So what are we gonna do?" You ask
"Well we can't just leave you here. So we're going to train. Me and Zenitsu will teach you everything we know"
You smile. The thought of doing nothing is worse than the fear of being in battle. You think to yourself "if that demon's after me, I'm gonna make her pay for it"
Two hours later
You all stand in the open backyard of the wisteria house. There is a series of activities set up. All part of the demon slayer training.
"OK, first were going to start with some running" tanjiro announces.
"That sounds pretty simple" you add.
"Haha just wait" He replies
You stare at him in confusion. What does he mean just wait?
"Ready Zenitsu?"
"I can barely contain myself!!"
"What's going-" you let out but it's too late.
"Go at it" tanjiro nudges Zenitsu
Zenitsu let's out a squeal of excitement and begins running towards you.
"Oh sh-"
You start running. Zenitsu prancing faster and faster towards you.
"Y/n!!! Oh y/n!!! Don't you want to hang out! Your so pretty an cute and warm! Can I touch your hair? We're so alike aren't we!"
As you run you notice tanjiro laughing. Meanwhile Zenitsu continues rambling.
" I love you y/n!! We can be together forever!! We'll get a dog, or a cat, or a bird. Or anything you like! And we'll have cute little demon slayer kids and well go on dates and cuddle!"
You can't keep running forever you feel you palms sweating, and you feel as if you might collapse. You see that your heading toward a fence. You immediately know what to do.
You run. Faster than ever. Barreling towards the fence. Once you've picked up enough speed your feet hit the fence. You race up the fence as fast as you can before kicking off. You backflip over Zenitsu. He stares at you I awe. Tanjiros jaw drops. You land perfectly on your feet. Then you begin Barreling towards Zenitsu. He freezes with fear. You open your arms and embrace him in a hug. He gasps, makes a small giddy squeal, then closes his eyes and hugs back. You feel his warmth. His orange kimono is soft and you nussle your head into his shoulder. You've never felt anything like this before. You smile as you breath in his sweet scent.
"Um... I think that's all for training today. You too get a room." Tanjiro walks off.
"I think I should head inside. I'm a bit tired from all this training." You gently pull away.
Zenitsu awkwardly laughs and pulls away too.
"I guess that makes sense. See you later?"
You smile
"See you later"
You walk off. The feeling of his touch remains on your skin. And you feel the butterflies in your stomach. But you need to do something. Before the moments over.
"Zenitsu! Wait!"
You run up to him. Set your arms on his shoulders and give him a small kiss on the cheek. You see him blush. You lean in. Whisper in his ear.
"I love you too"
You walk off. Not before watching him walk away. One hand resting on his cheek, grinning ear to ear.
