As nightfall approached, the group decided to continue their journey to find a place to rest.

When night fell after the apocalypse, the zombies became much more active than they were during the day. As a result, everyone with even a smidgeon of sense would seek out a safe place to slumber as night fell. Naturally, there was another issue to consider: user abilities were also humans who required rest. Chen Hua considered himself to be superior to others in this regard. Comparing his zombified body to average user abilities, he was a lot more resilient. Moreover, he wouldn't even feel fatigue even after a long battle.

In any case, after being rebirthed, Chen Hua still hasn't discovered his limit yet.

Under the circumstances of not replenishing his energies, a three hour nap would be sufficient for Chen Hua to stay awake and energized for an entire day. However, the same could not be the same for user abilities like Zhu Liwei and Chen Ling.

Zhu Liwei's original team of 25 people had dwindled to 13 after the battle against the Zombie King. Some of them even had fatal injuries that couldn't be healed by Chen Ling's ability alone. While the rest who were uninjured were swallowed by fatigue. They felt their limbs numb and as heavy as lead.

Their condition was extremely unfavorable if they had to fight another batch of zombies. They needed at least five hours of sleep to replenish their energies.

Zhu Liwei brought his team with the intention of finding a survivor base nearby their area. He knew that some people had established their own small scale survivor bases, some joined other survivor bases, and the rest of the majority, the sick and the elderly, waited to die. Of course, even if there was none, an abandoned building would also suffice.

It was only after a few minutes of driving their cars that they finally found a single story house not too far away.

The team's expression brightened when they saw the safe harbor, but only to fall, when they realised that the house might be occupied.

Within the dark sky, the team could see a sliver of light escaped from the closed curtains of the windows.

Some of them criticized the occupants who were foolish enough to turn on the light in the middle of the barren field where zombies might be wandering around.

The light was simply an attraction for zombies. But even so, Zhu Liwei still brought his team over, hoping that the occupants were willing to share their shelter with them for just a night. He didn't have any more energy to search for other available buildings.

Tidying up a few wandering zombies, the rest of them alighted from their vehicles and walked towards the house quietly. As Zhu Liwei knocked on the front door, the whole team tensed up. Their hands tightened on their guns and rifles, ready to shoot the person who came out of the house if they're their enemy.

Knock, knock. Zhu Liwei knocked again.

The whispering voices he heard from inside the house disappeared as they noticed their unwelcome presence.

Knock, knock.

The team was met with silence.

"Is anyone inside?" Zhu Liwei softly called out, "We just need a night to stay. Please help us."

A moment of silence, before a slight whisper came from inside, "Who are you?"

"We're soldiers from Chengdu city. We're dispatched to hunt down the High-ranked zombies that had appeared a few days ago." Zhu Liwei introduced themselves, "Don't worry, we're harmless. We wouldn't do anything you didn't like. We just need a place to rest for the night."
