Chapter 9: Drifting

So we were screwed. Dan broke his arm and my wrist was still healing, so everyone did most of everything without us. As in they did the fun agility courses, went paddle boarding and more Aqua parks with me and Dan at home. We tagged along paddle boarding, but Dan couldn't do it, so I didn't either. But today we were going to an aquarium to swim with dolphins. I was pumped. Even though it was a Monday morning and our 3rd week here, I was happy and this house felt like home to me.

But there was one thing bugging me. Dan and I were besties, we've known each other almost all our life. And it was good. But everything feels so different now that we're dating. Like in those movies where their best friends all their life and then they get married, but the opposite. I truly love him with all my heart, but I feel like we are too close to date. But I'm not going to break up with him ever, I couldn't do that to my best friend, it would ruin us. And I still have a big huge crush on him, I really do. But I thought it would be different dating him, like a whole new world, but there just is no spark because I've felt it all my life. Nothing new. Dating him just dosent feel as different as I wanted it to. And plus it feels like I'm dating my brother. But I'm forcing myself to swallow all those thoughts and keep them in my soul because I still love my Dan and I want him to be happy. I'm not trying to sound like I don't love him anymore, I do and I'm going to continue to date him, it's just I'm starting to drift.

I put on my black high waisted shorts and white crop top with little pink and green flowers on it. I grabbed a cropped leather jacket too and the black sandals I wore to the party. I curled my hair into spirals that actually were really cute. I did my makeup and put on the little charm bracelet that Dan had gotten me when we were 12. Ah the memories. There was a knock on my door and Ciara came in looking for a pair of my shoes to borrow. "Aw Mar your brought the bracelet Dan got you!" I looked down and noticed I was gripping the bracelet in my fist and my fingers were white. He meant so much to me and I would hold this bracelet forever. Even if the spark was dying I would try to hold on to our friendship no matter what is it dies out. Ciara looked at me with concern. "Is something happening between you two?" "No I'm just thinking about us, were fine." "Alright just promise me you'll spill when we get home." "Whatever.". I loved Ciara, she was my first friend. She meant so much to me too and I would HATE myself if she ever would unglue herself from my side. I was finally realizing what these people meant to me and I couldn't escape my thoughts. Why all of a sudden? But i sucked it up and continued getting ready. I went downstairs and found everyone sitting there- waiting for me. How long was I getting ready? Oh well. "Ready?" Dan said. "Yea I am sorry for keeping you guys waiting." "Its cool." Then we headed out into the cars, doing the same thing we did with the Aqua park. Each boy drove 3 girls and one guy would drive one boy and two girls. So Derrick took me, Dan, and Ciara. Garrett took Mallory, Carley and Taylor. Sam took Cassidy, Nat, and Emmy. DeShawn took Marissa, Sophie, and Syd. At the aquarium, we split into two groups and took the tour. The fish were so freaking colorful and there were turtles and sting rays and so many sharks. It was fabulous. We went outside to this tiny building where we'd learn and get our equipment. The guy who I guess was the worker for there had a strong bohemian accent and short brown hair. He was gorgeous. He has a nice jaw line and high cheekbones and beautiful hazel eyes. He looked about our age maybe even a bit older. "Hey guys! My name is Lukas and I'll be teaching you the things you need to know and giving you your equipment." He gave us a nice smile. "I can't believe they made me come and freaking swim with dolphins. How gay." Derrick scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Derrick shut up you decided to come with us so your going to do the shit we do and if your going to complain then why did you even come in the first place?" Cassidy was the first to speak up to Derricks rudeness. "I was tricked! The boys told me it was just us! Not 11 other bitchy girls along making us do stupid ass crap this vacation." We all just ignored him. "I'm really sorry about his bitchy attitude. Were really excited to swim with the Dolphins." Carley apologized "Nah it's cool, okay let's get started why don't we!" He said giving another smile. "I'm freaking pumped." Emmy yelled. We laughed and went inside the place. It was decorated with starfish and life preservers and mats on the wall along with plastic fish and seaweed. There was also a foam dolphin hanging from the ceiling. "Okay guys so first lets go over the rules. No splashing the Dolphins or kicking them underwater. Also no going underwater. Don't touch the Dolphins eyes, mouth or blowhole. And lastly have fun." "Thank you! We all said in unison. "Over here are your wetsuits. Just grab them off the ledge and put them on and meet me on the deck." I pulled my hair up into a high bun and the girls and I went to the bathroom. "Oh my god he was a beauty." said Nat. "It was like he came all the way from heaven." Syd said trying to make the heart eye emoji with her face. "But he was just so hot and ugh." said Mall. We got into our bathing suits and put on our wetsuits. "Do you think he's gay?" Sam asked from behind me. "Maybe that would be nice for you because he is hottttt." I said laughing. "Not cool babe!" Dan yelled over. We all laughed and soon Lukas came outside. The dock was in a Huge building with windows for walls that had a tank of Dolphins that led out into the ocean which had a small boundary where the they couldn't escape. There were about 5 Dolphins in the encasement. "Alright guys so as you can see there are fish that we will use it draw the Dolphins in from the sea. Everyone grab one and hop in.". We got into the water which wasn't all that cold and shook the fish around. Sooner or later the majestic Dolphins came into the little pool area. Lukas hit a button and a small door went over the entrance to the ocean so the Dolphins couldn't get out. I waded over to one and stroked it's head. It felt so cool and it's skin was a grayish blue and it just looked so pretty. Ciara joined me at the creature and asked Lukas what it's name was. "Oh her name is Daisy because she has a scar thatis in the shape of a flower." Poor thing. Dan then came over to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and I giggled. "This is the coolest experience ever!" He said. "I know, I feel like a little girl who just got to Disneyland" I said. We swam for about another hour or so and went home. We got McDonalds again and drove back to my place.
The next morning me and Ciara got up to make breakfast- eggs and bacon- and we started to talk a bit. I love my ciara. She's so pretty she dosent even need makeup. She's been dancing for all of her life and she's even better than me at it. She's so skinny and can wear absolutely anything. I've been jealous of her perfect night and gorgeous blonde hair all my life. "So how was the movie last?" I asked as I grabbed the bacon out of the fridge. "It was awful. We watched paranormal activity 4 and it was awful." "Eww I hate those movies." I said. I put the bacon into the pan with the Orange handle because it was my favorite. I happened to look out the window that's above the stove. It shows the side o Dans house and their backyard and the road in front of the house. I saw Dan walk out onto the porch. Then some skinny girl wearing boxers and a dark blue tank top with long blonde hair came out of the house after him. They walked to his car and he opened the door for her and then they got in and were gone. That bastard was cheating on me. I watched in horror at the scene as tears came to my eyes. I felt a lump in my throat trying to hold back tears because I wasn't positive he was cheating. I looked at Ciara and she stood there in shock. "Margo I'm so sorry. But I'm sure he wouldn't do that. It might be a misunderstanding." "Thanks I'm going to go talk to him." I said wiping a year from my cheek. If he was cheating, it was probably some girl from the party last night. We didn't go but the boys did after they dropped me and the girls off. It also was pretty early and Dan and everyone else knows that I sleep till 11:30 everyday and it was about 8:15 now. He might have thought I was asleep. As soon as he was back (about 30 mins) I put in a sweatshirt and some flip-flops and walked over. I rang the doorbell and waited for an answer. Soon Dan opened the door and made a twisted face like he was in shock and then smiled. I decided to play it cool until I was ready to ask. "Morning cutie" I fake laughed and went inside. It was a pigsty in there. Gross. "Morning babe how did you sleep?" "Pretty good, where's everyone else?" "They all met girls at the party and there all still asleep and I have no idea who else is up there, well besides Sam who found a really cute beach boy." "Cool place to yourself huh." I said. "Yep. so what brings you to the mancave." "Okay Dan who was that girl who came out of you house this morning? The one who I guess you took home?" I said angrily. "Oh gosh Mar- Derrick bright home a girl last night and when I got up and went downstairs, she came down asking for a ride because Derrick was still asleep. I then walked outside and took her home. Truth." He said then wrapped his arms around my neck. "I swear to god you better be telling the truth or else. Don't ever do that." I said sternly and looked him in the eye. I reached up and kissed his cheek and left.
