I sit a couple seats behind him. Behind Dabi, the boy with the burns. That's what everyone's calling him. He makes people think it doesn't bother him but I can see the truth, he hates it.

But...

They have a point. He's really scarred. It's the only reason people talk to him, because he has things to say, not that he says them anyways.

But there's something else that stands out to me about the scars.

They're burns. They're a purple color. But they look self-inflicted. He burned himself. Not some other source of fire. It had to come from him. Which means...

When the teacher returns to his desk I take my chance and sit right behind Dabi. He smells like burnt flesh and cologne. Like he tried to hide the smell.

"Dabi?" I lean forward close to his ear so I can whisper.

He tilts his head in response.

"I know something about you...something you don't want other's to know..." I lean closer to the point where my lips almost touch his ear, "A certain something that has to do with those scars." I lean back in my seat and watch him.

He stiffens and turns his head slightly towards my direction. Then he raises his hand, quickly stands up and asks the teacher for a hall pass.

I watch him as he looks down at me, trying to hide the fact that I affected him.

With the teacher's pass, he leaves the class, letting the door slam shut. Not the answer I want.

"Sir?" I get up and go to his desk.

"What, Evelyn?" He gave me this annoyed look.

I smirk a little. "May I go to the bathroom?"

"No. Sit down."

"But-"

"No."

I lean forward and slam my hands on his desk. "Well clearly I need to elaborate.  You know how girls get that thing, that thing that happens-"

"Sit down."

"every month. You know? Starts with a b?"

"Evelyn...don't make me send you to the office. You know the rules, another student just left, you can't."

"I just started my period dumb ass." I give him my deadliest glare as his face goes white.

"O-oh..." He just looks at me with that stupid look.

I walk out of the class. He is the dumbest person I've ever met and before the door closes all the way, I can hear the girls in the class burst into giggles.

Once I'm out of the range of the class door, I search for him. I start by wandering the halls and checking near the bathrooms. No one.

I turn the corner that leads to the gym and run smack into somebody.

"What the hell?" It's him.

"S-sorry..."

"Watch where your going, okay? I don't like being rammed into."

"You're not quirkless." I look him straight in the eyes.

He looks at me with a straight face. Then, slowly, smirks at me and bends down near my face.

I don't move, I just keep looking at him and smirk back. "Surprised?"

He turns away from me and walks into the gym and I follow. The second the door shuts he turns on me.

"How'd you know?"

"Logical answer to the self inflicted burns. No one endures that much pain for fun." I cross my arms and look at the scars.

"Yea? And no one can tell that unless it happened to them, which means, Evelyn, you aren't quirkless either."

I can't help the shocked look that crosses my face, "N-no."

He lifts his hand up, palm facing me, and blue flames spiral out and at me. I fall back and throw my hand up, my white flames shooting out and at him. The fires clash and then turn to nothing. But that isn't the end. My flames burst out in all directions from under me, causing the gym to catch fire and turn to ice.

I scream. The flames burn, burn cold.
