"Alright Evelyn. Got all your stuff?" My dad looks me over and grabs two of my bags.
"Yep." I smile and hug my mom.
"I really wish you'd let us come." She hugs me tight, her tears falling in my hair.
"Yea, I think I'll be fine on my own, Mom." I try to take a step back but she hugs tighter.
"Oh baby girl, I love you!"
"I know! Don't worry, I can come home on weekends and stuff."
"Okay, okay." She finally lets me go. "Do good, make us proud. You know all that parent-y crap I'm supposed to say."
I nod and hug her one more time. "It'll be fun Mom. I promise nothing bad will happen to me. And if someone tries something, I'll kick their ass, k?"
"Okay." She opens the door for me and my Dad.
We leave and as soon as the door shuts, I see my mom in the window, waving.
My dad gets in the car, and I sit in the front passenger seat, after putting my bags in the back. I hide my hands between my legs because they're shaking so bad.
Dabi never came to say goodbye, and now, all I can think about is if he'll be there, at the airport.
As I look out the window, I feel a few tears roll down my cheeks. I don't wipe them away because I don't want my Dad to know I'm crying.
A while into our drive, well more like an hour we're almost at the airport.
"All right, kiddo, this is as far as I go." He says once he parks near the entrance.
"Wait, I thought you were coming with me."
"No, your mom told me not to. She thinks it'll be harder for us." He grabs my bags and puts them down next to me, holding his arms out.
I run into them and squeeze him as hard as I can. "I'll miss you. I'll miss you both."
"We know, darling. Just have fun and learn some shit, k?"
I laugh and let go. "I will." After one more hug and a few more words, I grab my stuff and head inside the airport.
"Evelyn!!!" Nari runs at me and hugs me. "Boo, I can't believe this is happening!"
"I know, me too!!" I let go and laugh. "It'll be really fun."
She does a little dance and pulls my camera out of her bag. "I brought this for you."
I grab it and hug it. "Aw. Did you fill it up with a bunch of pictures?"
"Of Me, you, Dabi and some other stuff."
I look around, "Is he here?"
She grabs my shoulder and shakes her head, "I'm sorry Evelyn. He said he wouldn't be able to do it, say goodbye."
I sigh and more tears roll down my cheeks. I try to suck in a breath but burst out crying instead.
"Oh, Evelyn." She hugs me again.
"Where is he, what's he doing then?"
She pulled up a picture on her phone.
It's Dabi laying in a bathtub in his house. A pretty messed up bathtub, too.
"I'll make sure he's okay." She pockets her phone. "Now stop crying, your plane's gonna leave."
"One more thing, for me?"
"What?"
I hand her my phone and cover my mouth, crying more. "Delete his number. He wants me to get rid of it."
She grabs my phone and does it. When she's done she gives it back.
I look at the time and grab my bags. "I love you guys. Tell him, okay?"
"I will."
And then I'm gone, heading to my plane.
