Sleeping

I trip on a weed, falling on my hands and knees. "Ow..." I sit back, looking at my hands. They bleed but not a lot. I pull out the sharp thorns and look back at the building. I left Dabi to go for a walk by myself but now I'm regretting it. It hasn't cleared my thoughts, just made them worse. I lay back, pulling my hood up so my hair doesn't get caught on anything.

It's dark out but the stars shine brightly. It reminds me of when I was with Mirio, Tamaki and Nejire. But that was a long time ago.

I sit down on the grass, Tamaki next to me.

"So, what do you think so far?" He looks up at the sky.

"It's the same as always but you guys make it fun."

Nejire sits on my other side, a bag of food in her hands. "Mirio says that you can see planets."

As if she called him, he sits next to Tamaki. "You can. Look." He points and we all look.

It looks like any other star but I stay quiet, enjoying their presence.

I lay down on the grass and smile. Nejire lays down too and then the boys do. We all watch the sky and I lift my hand, making fire birds fly with the stars.

I lift my hand, covering the stars. How strange, that some of those are planets. But we wouldn't be able to survive on them. I open my hand, trying to make the butterfly Dabi once made. It works, white butterflies fly among the stars, dying out when they go too far from me. I let my hand fall back down, resting it on my stomach. After a while I get up, heading back inside. I find Dabi leaning on the wall, asleep with his arms tucked behind his head.

I sit beside him, watching him breathe. When I look around, I don't see any of the other members. Maybe there are more rooms?

"Hey Ev." His eyes open halfway. "Nice walk?" He closes them again.

I don't answer. I move next to him, leaning on the wall too. He falls back asleep, I can tell by his steady, even breathing. I think of yesterday.

Can he fall back in love with me?

His arms slip down to his sides and he leans over, his head gently falling onto my thigh.

I nearly laugh but hold it back, letting him use me as a pillow.

His arm snakes around my leg, holding onto me.

I don't think he has to try to fall back in love. He's been in love with me this whole time, hasn't he?

He mumbles. "I have..."

So I guess I said that out loud too.

I play with his hair, gently stroking it. "We should just go away somewhere, together."

He sighs. "No, I've got stuff I have to do here..." He moves onto his back, looking up at me. "Maybe after I finish what's been started. Maybe then we can."

I smile, content with that answer.
