"When the sun shines, we'll shine together. Told you I'll be here forever-" I sing softly to myself along with the radio.
"Start the car! Start the car!" I hear my friend JJ yelling before he comes into view. I then see him with some items in his hands, running toward my car, as a big security man is chasing him.
I try not to panic and quickly start the car and make sure the doors are unlocked. JJ yanks the passenger door open and jumps in, yelling at me to drive before he even has the door closed.
"JJ! What the hell did you do?" I shout at him as I speed away from the scene. "I asked you to run in and get hamburger buns and ketchup... that's it." I add.
"Oh... you wanted me to pay for them?" He replies with a smirk on his face.
I take my right hand off the steering wheel and punch him in the arm. "How has your ass not gotten shot or locked up? Seriously if you needed money you could have just asked me."
"Don't worry, I got it covered. Besides I don't like asking for money."
"Seriously, JJ, I would rather give you a couple dollars for groceries than have to pay for your bail later." He just rolls his eyes and turns up the radio volume as I continue to drive.
We arrive back at our home, the Chateau. I see my brother, John B, starting the grill up to make dinner. JJ grabs the few groceries and quickly heads inside. I step out of the car and make my way to John B. "Well we are no longer welcome at Mr. Dale's store." I tell him referring to JJ's recent stunt.
"What did JJ do now?" He asks.
"Apparently he thinks it's optional to pay for groceries."
He just smiles and rolls his eyes. I look over and see Kie and Pope struggling to walk up the driveway, each holding a handle of a beer keg. They set the keg down and finish making their way toward us.
"You guys ready for the kegger tonight?" Kie asks, smiling. We all just finished our senior year at Kildare County High School and have decided to throw a party on the section of the beach called the boneyard, to celebrate and kick off the summer.
"Hell yeah!" JJ shouts from the porch, already with a can of beer in his hand.
"I just pulled a double at the diner so I'm going to go shower first." I say and walk to my room. I pick out my outfit for tonight, take my shower, and begin to get ready.
I dry my hair and throw it up into a messy bun. I then apply some eye makeup, nothing too fancy. My outfit is simple but cute. A plain white t-shirt, which I tie up in the front, and a black skirt with a zipper along the front of it. I pair this with a pair or white and gold colored sandals and head outside to see if everyone else is ready.
The crew is all out front along with Sarah Cameron. She is a kook, which are the rich entitled kids from the north side of the island, Figure 8. Sarah and my brother recently started dating and she is honestly pretty cool for a Kook. Over the past couple weeks that they have been together I've gotten to know her and really started liking her.
We make our way to the spot on the beach and the boys start getting the keg ready. Kie, Sarah, and I head down toward the water to put our feet in.
More and more people start crowding to the party and pretty soon there is a radio blasting music, a small bonfire going, and people just dancing and having a good time.
"Oh, no."
