Part 31

I finish rinsing the soap off my body and turn off the water. I step out of the shower and wrap a towel around myself before brushing through my soaking wet hair. Just as I am about to set my brush back down on the sink I hear a loud banging sound coming from the kitchen. I shoot closer to the bathroom door to listen. Maybe it was just JJ and John B getting back home. But then fear washes over me when I hear a different voice. It's one that takes me a minute to recognize. Barry. My eyes go wide in fear.

"Come on out princess, I know you're here!" He shouts.

I hurriedly toss the towel on the bathroom floor and throw my t-shirt and shorts on my still wet body. What do I do? I can't hide, he knows I'm here, I think to myself. So in a split second decision I grab my phone from the sink and call Rafe's number, but before he answers I slide the phone in my back pocket and open the bathroom door. I step out into the hallway and take a few steps toward the main area of the house.

I am met with Barry, he holds a pistol in his hand. I notice that he has started wrecking the house. The kitchen table is flipped on its side, leaving whatever was on top of it sprawled all over the floor. The cushions have been thrown off of the couch and a picture of me, John B, and my father that once hung on the wall lies shattered on the ground.

"Barry..." I say trying to remain calm.

"There she is!" He exclaims, followed by a chuckle.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, well you see, that little boy toy or yours owe me some money."

"Look I'm sure he is getting you your money. I don't have anything for you." I try to calmly plead with him.

"That's the problem through sweetheart..." I can tell his anger level is rising. He is flailing the gun around as he speaks. I try to maintain the distance between us. "...time is up."
