*the next day, Liv's pov*
I hear my phone ringing in the other room, rushing over to see that it's a call from my favorite boy.
"Hi, my love." I answer.
"Hi, baby."
"So?" I feel myself growing impatient. Rafe was supposed to tell his father the news today and I have been waiting for his call so he could let me know how it went.
"My dad would like you to come over for a family dinner tonight. John B, also."
"Ok, we will be there. Did he seem to take the news well?"
"Surprisingly, yes."
"That's good. What should I wear tonight?"
"You could wear that black dress with the flowers on it. Ya know, the one you wore to your graduation."
I pause for a moment. "Wait you remember the dress I wore to my graduation? That was like 4 months ago, we weren't even together."
"I've always had my eye on you, Olivia."
I can't help but smile. "That doesn't sound creepy at all, Rafe Cameron." I sarcastically tease him.
"See ya tonight." He says and I can hear the smug smile in his voice.
I go out to the living room and tell my brother to start getting ready for dinner at the Cameron house tonight. He doesn't protest too much since he knows Sarah will be there.
I finish getting ready and look myself over in the mirror before heading out and joining John B in the Twinkie.
He starts driving and the motion of the car instantly makes me nauseous. Thankfully I grabbed a bottle of water before leaving the house. We eventually make it to Tanney Hill without me physically getting sick.
As we approach the front door, it swings open. Rafe stands in the doorway and I feel my nerves instantly subside a little at the sight of him. Sarah comes to the door also when she hears John B. We make our way to the dining room and and it looks like thanksgiving dinner spread over the table. Rose enters from the kitchen just as we do, a glass of wine occupies her hand.
"Hi, darling." She says to me and softly pecks my cheek as a greeting. She has always seemed so sweet.
"Hi, Liv." A voice says behind me. I turn around and see Wheezie, she instantly pulls me in for a hug, which of course I accept.
Ward finally makes his appearance in the dining room. "Olivia, dear. Thank you for joining us." He motions for everyone to sit. "John B." He says and nods in his direction.
"Hello, sir. Thank you for having us."
I mentally roll my eyes at my brothers fake manners. "Yes, thank you for having us." I add politely.
"Please help yourselves." Rose says and motions at the table filled with food.
"It looks amazing, Rose." I tell her as everyone starts to make their plates.
"So Rafe told me the news. You're having a baby and moving in together?"
"Yes, sir." I feel myself starting to grow nervous again. Rafe's father is definitely an intimidating man.
"Well that is definitely a big step. I know Rafe has come along way and he's worked very hard to get where he is today..." I see Rafe slightly smile at his fathers kind words from the corner of my eye. He hasn't always had the best relationship with him and I know his father's approval means a lot to him.
"Yes, he sure has. I couldn't be more proud of him and how far he's come." I place a loving hand on his knee under the table.
"...it's going to be a lot of responsibility. I'm not here to try and be the bad guy or anything. I know how strong minded you are, just like your father was. I just don't want all of the responsibility to fall on Rafe."
"Of course, sir. I'm going to keep working and help him out as much as I can. It's definitely not my intention to take advantage of him."
Ward seems to accept this. He holds up his glass of wine and takes a sip. "I wish nothing but the best for you two."
Well that's not exactly where I imagined this conversation going. Not that I'm complaining. Everyone goes on to make small talk and we finish eating dinner. I stay and help Rose, Wheezie, and Sarah clean up the kitchen and dining room before making my way back to Rafe.
