Rafe and I sit on the beach for what seems like hours. The sun has gone down and the moon and the stars are shining brightly as we keep each other company.
"Do you forgive me?" He asks softly.
I look over to him and I can feel myself giving in. "Yes." I say quietly. What is this boy doing to me?
He turns his body so that we are facing each other completely. His hand reaches up and brushes a strand of hair behind my ear, like he has done once before. His fingertips run gently along my face, tracing my jawline, and land beneath my chin. He tilts my head up slightly to meet his eyes. I feel my heart skip a beat.
"You're beautiful." He states.
I give an awkward laugh and roll my eyes.
"I mean it." He says sternly, followed by a smile.
"Rafe-" I start to speak as I pull away from his touch. But truthfully I had no idea what to say. "I should get going, John B is probably wondering where I'm at." I tell him as I stand from my spot in the sand. He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair before standing also. I give him an awkward smile before walking away.
...
I arrive home and thankfully John B isn't back yet. I go and sit on the dock behind the house and hang my feet in the water.
I let myself get lost in my thoughts.
The past few years have pretty much been a Kook vs. Pogue war. Rafe and his friends have started fights with John B, JJ, and Pope, and have said nasty things to me and Kie.
I have seen a very dark side of Rafe, and that side scares me. But in just the past 2 weeks I have seen a soft side of him, a vulnerable side.
I can't help but think about the kiss in his bedroom, and now tonight. He told me I was beautiful. Butterflies erupt in my stomach and a smile creeps it's way onto my face. Was I starting to have feelings for Rafe? Did he have feelings for me? I mean that would be crazy, right?
