Chapter Thirty Three
Feeling a tap on my shoulder, I pulled the headphones that were blasting Coldplay into my ears and grabbed my cheeseburger from Justin as he sunk down into a seat beside me. We were currently awaiting our plane with Colby, Mark, Scott and Casey but of course we got there early because Justin wanted to make sure we didn’t miss it. Airports at two in the afternoon were hectic though and security was almost impossible so I get it, I just hated waiting around for an hour to kill time.
“Shoot.” I mumbled. “I forgot to tell you to get-“
“Pickles on it? There are.”
And then he unwrapped his burger, me just staring at mine before getting a little smile on my face because he knew me way too well. I’ve never been in a relationship like this where the other person is literally your best friend but Justin knows everything about me.
“How did you know that?” I asked.
“We went to McDonald’s that one time like the first week we met. Remember? When you first called?”
--------
It was only the first five minutes of being in this damn fast food restaurant and I already wanted to leave. You know, when I called this ass and told him that I might possibly want to agree on this whole sleeping on a regular basis thing I thought he’d be excited a little but here he was, standing in front of me as we waited to get something to eat and he still hasn’t said a word to me.
“What would you like?” The employee asked him.
“Can I get a uh, chicken sandwich with cheese only?”
“And for you?”
She focused her attention on me and before I could even blurt anything out Justin shook his head and slapped a ten down on a counter.
“We’re separate.” He responded rather irritatingly.
Rolling my eyes, I took some money out of my wallet and as he stood to the side I ordered my usual, a cheeseburger with pickles only. For a second I felt like taking my burger and just leaving but I didn’t. Instead, we grabbed our bags and sat down at a table together.
“So you’re agreeing.” He smirked, unwrapping his sandwich. “Yeah?”
“Well I was thinking about it until your little stunt back there.”
“What stunt? Just because we’ll be sleeping together doesn’t mean I have to pay for you. I don’t do that shit.”
“And I wasn’t asking you to pay for me. I was going to give you the damn money. You can be a real asshole, you know that?”
“So I’ve been told.”
It was as if my comment meant nothing to him and it just flew right over his head.
