I don’t want to be alone. I gasped and quickly jumped over a moss covered trunk that would have almost cracked my big toe. I don’t want to keep running, definitely not from her. I duck under branches, avoiding overgrown bushes and evading every tree in my way. So instead I will be running to her. It seemed to get easier the more I ran this path, my foot prints from times before making my footing on the trampled ground more stable.

And for once I could give all my energy to save time and get to the boulder, and even past that stupid rock. Because I hadn’t taken a beating, for once I wasn’t bruised and my skin wasn’t littered with new scratches and dried up blood.

‘ “You should probably start running.” Is what the brunette said. “Women like the extra effort.” And with a wink of her grey eye, she had pushed me to start running. ’

I reached the open field and pushed my legs to run past, further back into between the trees.  My mind felt clouded by excitement, excited about the upcoming surprise for Elsa. I had never dared to dream that Eden could come up with something sweet, let alone something romantic. At Least I think this is. I exhaled deeply as the boulder came into view, soon standing right infront of it. I panted heavily, granting myself the little time I needed to inhale properly after I started running.

‘ “You should walk with her to your special place today. You know, to make it up to her.” Eden said as her eyes kept astray, not bothering the effort to look at me. “There is nothing else you have to give her anyways.” She chuckled at her own words as she probably knew they stung me. ’

I straightened my back, stretched my arms above my head before shaking them out and moved my hand to my pocket to get my cloth. I looked down at a piece of me in my hands as I let my eyes study the fabric for a bit. Time to go back to the old look I guess. I won’t know what I will see on my way to Elsa, or who. I took in one last deep breath before masking myself again and pulling up my hood. Now on my way again.

I started walking to the tree Elsa once leaned against when I had pulled a knife at her, still feeling that sting in my chest at the memory. I shook my head and carefully slid down the slant to eventually start running at the bottom again. I hope to see her smile. That she is happy to see me so we can walk together. But maybe she won’t. She is still hiding something from me. Still, she asked me to come with her so it’s probably not her home she wants to hide. Right? I hope she'll hold my hand.

I duck underneath a branch as my eyes keep scanning the path Elsa seemed to have made, just like the one I follow almost everyday. I really hope she doesn’t mind me at her doorstep. I want to make something up to her after all and her not liking me there will certainly not help. I stopped walking as my eyes spotted something along the unmarked path, are those rocks? I smiled as I got closer, noticing the rocks were carefully put together to form some sort of pile. A landmark. Clever. Still smiling, I let my fingers graze over the stone on top as I walked by. I can’t help but let my excitement take over my every step, carrying me along Elsa’s steps and closer to her.

I stopped at a small ledge leading up to a solid path, open and exposed. This is bad. I shouldn’t step out of the cover of the trees. What if someone sees me, maybe someone from the Anar Dogmas. I don’t even know where I am. I only have Elsa’s selfmade path to follow when I have to run. I crouched down and got closer to the ledge, carefully peering over to look around and try to gain some information about my surroundings. Maybe this was a bad idea. But I have to do this for Elsa. I need to make it up to her. My ears perked up at the sound of wheels against the dirt and a man talking, making me press myself flat against the ground.

“You know Sven, I never thought you would say that. To me of all people.” I heard the man say as he got closer to his companion, his voice sounding strangely familiar. “I think the hat fits me well and Anna will like it for a change.” I furrowed my brows as I duck deep to recall where I had heard that voice before, but the voice only didn’t seem to do the trick. I dared to move my head up a little, careful to stay in the cover of a nearby bush and looked up the carriage or rather the cart.
