Zylina's Point of View
Bang!
I flinched, but realized immediately after that it wasn't the gun that was threatening my life, it was Luke trying to get into the room to stop his sister.
"Lilian, if you kill me, Luke will never look at you the same way again. He might have you arrested." I tried to convince her.
Bang!
I didn't flinch this time; instead, I kept my eyes on Lilian. I was too afraid not to take my eyes off of her; who knows when she might pull that trigger, and take my life.
"As long as he's safe from you and Rory, that's all that matters." Lilian responded with.
I sighed knowing there was no way of getting through to her verbally; I needed to fight back, despite the fact that she might be more convinced that I was still part of the Academy.
In a quick, swift movement I punched the pistol out of Lilian's hand, but she retaliated with a solid punch to my face, causing me to stagger into the wall. Through my blurry vision, I saw Lilian going for the gun, and without a second thought I lunged at her, pinning her to the floor.
"Lilian, stop this! You have to get it through your head that neither Rory, nor I, are part of the Academy anymore!" I exclaimed, trying to hold her down without hurting her.
However, my exclamation wasn't good enough for her and she broke from my hold, and backhanded me, causing me to roll across the floor.
I stood up groaning, and feeling light-headed, but I managed to keep my balance. However, I didn't recover fast enough to stop Lilian from getting the pistol, pinning me back against the wall, and jamming the metal barrel into my chest causing my breath to get caught in my throat.
Bang!
Crack!
The door came bursting open, and Luke came rushing in only to stop in his tracks and stared in horror. "Lilian!" he called, his face turning from horror to anger in a matter of seconds.
When Lilian didn't respond to her brother's call, he decided to sprint on over and restrain her. I was relieved to know that I wouldn't be dying that day, but seeing the fuming rage in Lilian's eyes honestly kind of scared me even more than I already was.
"Lilian, drop the gun." Luke ordered her, as she continued to fight back against his hold.
"She tried to kill you!" Lilian shouted. I knew that I didn't try to kill Luke, and I would never try to, but why did I still feel so guilty, like this whole mess was partially my fault?
"No, she didn't. Zylina broke free from the Academy; she's not a part of them anymore. You want to know how I know that for sure? Because she was the one that broke me free from them too." Luke exclaimed; hearing the last part really touched my heart, but it didn't take away the guilt I had about Luke and Lilian's parents being killed in front of them.
"I am not going to tell you again, put the gun down!" Luke shouted, through clenched teeth. I saw there were now tears streaming down Lilian's face, and I wondered if she would actually listen to her brother.
I was startled out of thought, by a shout that made my heart sink. "What the heck?!" Rory stared with shock and confusion with his eyes averting between Lilian fighting against Luke, and me still leaning against the wall with warm blood trickling down my lip.
Lilian turned her head, and stopped fighting, knowing she had been caught; however, she still didn't drop the gun, so Luke took matters into his own hands. He snatched out of the distracted Lilian's grip, put on the safety, and stuffed it into the back of his belt.
Only when the gun was away from her hands did Lilian stop fighting, but the tears didn't stop streaming down her now red face. I pushed myself from against the wall, and started to say something, but before I could get anything out of my mouth, Rory came stomping over, anger flaring in his eyes.
"What just happened, Luke? Why did Lilian have a gun in her hands?" he exclaimed, after examining my busted lip.
"It 's none of your worries, it-"
"Oh, I believe it is. Zylina has a busted lip and a good-size bruise on her face, so you're going to tell me what happened, or else I'll make you tell me." I flinched at Rory raising his voice. I don't think I've ever seen him so angry in my entire life.
A tense silence filled the air, and I saw Luke looking back and forth between Lilian, who was crossing her arms and looking angrily down at her feet, and Rory, who was staring daggers into Luke.
With a deep sigh, and a slightly worried glance back at Lilian, Luke crossed his arms, and said, "My guess is that Lilian stole my gun and attacked Zylina thinking that she betrayed me at the old academy facility."
I sucked in a breath and held it as I watched Rory's face go from anger to furious. I saw him turn his angry glare towards Lilian, who wouldn't even look at him, and then he tried to rush toward her, but Luke stopped him just in time.
"You tried to kill Zyl?! You're going to pay!" I saw that Rory was about to break from Luke's grip, and I finally decided to intervene by hopping in front of Rory and keeping him back.
"Rory, calm down. I'm alive, aren't I?" I tried telling him. Rory didn't respond; instead, he continued to give Lilian death glares.
Luke stood between Lilian and me trying to hold back Rory, and said, "Lilian, go downstairs to the kitchen; we're going to have a major talk." Not saying a word, Lilian left the room, and Luke turned to us, and I finally felt safe enough to let go of Rory.
"I think you two should go," he muttered.
"Don't worry; we were about to go anyway." Rory growled, before storming off to his room to finish packing his bag.
As Rory disappeared around the corner, Luke took a look back at me, and said, "I'll contact you if I have any leads on the Academy, or anything else." With those words, it was his turn to leave the room, leaving me with my thoughts. What have I done?
