That night...

I stood on the balcony of a third floor room, and I gazed out on the streets where cars drove speedily. The more I stood there, the more I felt guilt about tearing apart Luke and Lilian's family. Now I knew why she was so stubborn toward us, but what I didn't know is why she was extremely stubborn towards Rory.

She seemed to have some sort of history or past grudge with him, but Rory has never mentioned her to me before. I heard footsteps approach me from behind, and I immediately knew who it was. Sighing, I questioned, "So, at the bus station on my way to Princeton. Was that you?"

Luke appeared in my line of vision next to me and leaned against the railing next to me. "Yeah, that was me. I kind of knew that was you and that's why I kept glancing at you." he explained, casually. "You are very good at improvising." I responded, with a smile creeping on my face.

He shrugged, and replied, "I worked for a secret spy organization. I have to be good at improvising." My smile disappeared, and I sighed. "Luke, if I'm the reason your parents were killed. I'm sorry." I told him.

"Agent Z, I made the choice to help you and Rory. It's my fault." Luke exclaimed. I perked up when he called me Agent Z. I let out a laugh, and Luke looked at me confused.

"You just called me Agent Z." I snickered, and once he realized that he did in fact call me that, Luke also started laughing. Once we calmed down, I continued to smile, but I asked, "How'd you know what I looked like? We've only heard each other's voices."

"I may have hacked into some Academy files about you to find out what you looked like. I actually pictured you as a brunette, but thought you would have brown eyes." he explained to me.

"Well sorry to disappoint you, but I have gemstone green eyes." I said playfully, pushing his arm. We stood there in silence just looking up at the dark sky above us for a while.

"Why'd you do it? Why'd you help us?" I finally asked. I heard Luke sigh, before saying, "After our last contact through the ear piece, I did a bit of research on their intentions. Turns out you and Rory are right, the Academy is up to no good and needs to be stopped."

I looked over at him, and saw that his face turned serious. I decided not to say anything, so I walked back into the room to get ready for bed.

Rory's Point of View

I rubbed the back of my neck as I continued to lay my things out. I heard footsteps behind me and quickly turned around, knowing it wasn't Zylina. Lilian was standing there in the doorway, and I relaxed.

"Are you going to pin me against the wall again?" she asked, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Sighing, I decided to retaliate with, "If you keep sneaking up on me I will."

I copied her stance, and we just stared at each other, scowling and our eyes narrowed. "You know you could say sorry, for pinning me earlier." she exclaimed, after a minute of silence.

I raised my eyebrow, and uncrossed my arms. "I'm not apologizing now with that attitude you're giving me." I answered her, with a smirk. All Lilian did was stare daggers into me, I sighed for the second time.

"We got off on the wrong foot, and it seems like we're going to be stuck working together for a little while, so how about we start over and try to get to know each other?
I suggested walking closer to her.

"I'll think about it." she said simply. I nodded, and responded, "Good, now stop staring at me like you're about to murder me before I change my mind about us working together." I said that comment a little harsher than I meant, but I wanted to get the point across to her.

Her eyes softened, but I could hear a groan come from her mouth. "Okay, I'm tired. I'm gonna go to bed." I said, trying to give her the hint to leave. To my relief, she took the hint, and left the room.

I unpacked the rest of my things, and mumbled to myself, "I don't know if we're going to be rivals to the bone, or best buds in the future."
