Twins have a special bond that no other siblings have.
No we can't feel each others pain and no we can't read each others mind but I connected with Chase on a different level than I did with any other of my brothers.
We grew up close and there wasn't anything I wouldn't do for my brother and I took that to heart.
My brother hung out with the popular crowd back in Ohio. He knew everyone and everyone knew him, you were considered lucky if he remembered your name.
Chase played baseball and he was good at it.
He kept short stop locked down from the minute he stepped on the field as a freshman.
By the time junior year came around he was caption and that's when all the trouble started.
He'd be out late every night, calling me asking me for rides because he was drunk.
One Friday night, I was home per usual watching Max and Charlie while my parents were working and Chase was out.
That's when I get a call at 12 am from Chase asking for a ride home because he was drunk.
Being the responsible sister I was, agreed to come and get him. I told Max and Charlie to not leave or let anyone in the house until I got back.
I picked him up a half hour away from home, during this time Chase and I had to share an old Jeep Liberty.
Knowing him, I always refused to give him the keys when he left for the night. I always told him that I would come pick him up.
When I got to the address, I could tell right away Chase was plastered.
I got him in the car and started to make our way back home, that's when Chase started to act up.
"I broke up with Claire."
"Why you guys have been dating for two and a half years."
He scoffed, "Two years is too long, she was starting to bore me."
I knew that wasn't the case, he was obsessed with Claire.
"You tell me all the time how much you like her?" I said.
He started to cry, "You're right, I screwed up. I need to go back and apologize.
At that point he began to take his seat belt off and started to open the car door while I was driving.
"No Chase stop!" I screamed as I reached over to pull him back in the car.
Doing this I had to take my eyes off the road and I looked over at the last minute to see I was about to hit a lady getting out of her car parked on the side of the road.
I remember screaming as I slammed on the brakes, jolting us to a halt but I wasn't quick enough as I realized I still hit her.
