I let the water trickle down my back; I took a deep breath as I scrubbed my hair, wishing I could stay here forever.
"Sam, you've been in there for 30 minutes now."
I sighed as I turned off the shower, throwing on my robe. I saw my little brother Max sitting beside the bathroom door, huffing and puffing.
"Calm down, Max, it's all yours now," I said as I ruffled his hair.
He stood up, and he swatted my hand away.
He pushed past me quickly, almost causing me to dive down the stairs. Instead, I rolled my eyes as I went to my room to prepare for my first day at my new school.
I put my curly blonde hair up in a loose ponytail and put on a dash of mascara and lip gloss. Then, I headed to my closet and pulled out my usual ripped grey skinny jeans and a flowery white shirt.
Just as I headed downstairs, I spotted my twin brother Chase. He was busy posing in the hallway mirror. I rolled my eyes; he was popular at our old school, having every girl give him a double-take as he walked by.
Chase grabbed his soccer bag and flung it down the stairs.
"Are tryouts today?" I asked, but he didn't acknowledge me as he continued walking down the stairs. I sighed and grabbed my backpack, heading down as well.
Charlie was sitting at the table; he was 14 but sometimes acted more severe than I do, and I'm 18. "Hey, Charlie boy, what's up?" I asked as I walked to the fridge and grabbed a smoothie.
He looked up with a nervous look on his face, "What if people find out what happened back at home and why we had to move?"
I looked at him with a sad expression. "Hey, it's all in the past now, kid. We can only look forward to new beginnings."
I winked at him and turned around, almost body-slamming Max, he may be ten, but he was spunky.
He dodged past me to get a pop tart and a juice box for breakfast. My parents left a long time ago; they are pediatric doctors.
I looked outside and saw Chase sitting in the driver's seat of his 2018 BMW that my grandpa bought him when he got his license. Chase was his favorite for some reason, and I never knew why.
I looked past him and saw my old Jeep Wrangler that used to be my mom's, it had some dents, but it was still in pretty good shape.
I climbed into my car and saw Max and Charlie get on the school bus; I smiled and waved at them as the bus drove away. I looked over to Chase, only to see that he had already left. I sighed as I began to blast my Country playlist, pulling out of my driveway and heading toward my new beginning.
