Chapter 16: First date

Marinette stood outside of the movie theater, waiting for Chloe and Luka.

"Don't worry, Marinette," Tikki spoke from the bag on her hip, "I'm sure they'll be here soon."

"The only thing I'm worried about is if she also invited Adrien and they're setting us up," Marinette replied.

Marinette once again took a glance at her phone. The movie would be starting soon. She looked up from her phone and saw a familiar mop of blonde hair walking towards her. "Adrien?! What are you doing here?"

"Oh, Hello, Marinette! Chloe invited me." Adrien replied.

That's when Marinette's phone rang. She looked at her phone, it was Chloe calling. She picked up her phone, "Hey, Chlo, where are you guys?"

"Oh, Luka started feeling sick last minute and I'm staying to help him. You guys go ahead and see the movie without us."

Marinette looked at her phone as Chloe hung up. Then she looked up at Adrien and chuckled nervously.

He rolled his eyes, "They bailed, didn't they?"

She sighed, "Yeah...she wants us to go ahead and see the movie without them."

Adrien rolled his eyes once more, "Oh my gosh," he facepamled, "They set us up without us knowing." he started to laugh.

Marinette giggled, "So? What do you think? Should we go in and see the groovy? I-I mean, movie?"

"Sure. L-let's go." Adrien said. He started to head to the entrance of the movie theater. As he passed Marinette, she could have sworn that there was a pink tint on his cheeks.

They walked up to the ticket counter only to find that there were two tickets already reserved for them. All they needed to pay for were snacks. As they headed towards the concession stand, Marinette decided to try to strike up a conversation.

"So... I'm surprised your dad let you out of the house." She joked a bit.

"Meh. For all he knows, I'm at fencing practice." Adrien responded. they had finally reached the concession stand. There was someone in front of them so they had time to decide, "Do you, um, want to share a popcorn?"

"Yure!" Marinette responded. She facepalmed. She had intended to say yes but in the middle had changed to sure. She cleared her throat, "Yes. I would love that." She had told him. She was sure that her entire face was as red as a tomato.

Adrien's face turned a bit pink when she said the word 'love'. How he longed for her to say that word in regards to him. He nodded to her and smiled. It was now their turn at the counter. They ordered their popcorn and drinks. They were both nervous as can be. They cursed Chloe for putting them in this situation. But they also thanked her because neither of them would've had the courage to ask the other on a date themselves. Throughout the movie, they brushed hands many times but neither (once again) dared to initiate the first move. 

Once the movie ended, Adrien looked at his phone and noticed that he was going to be late getting home. However, they notice that the Gorilla was waiting for him outside of the theater. He sighed and turned toward Marinette, "I guess that's me. I'm sorry we couldn't hang out longer."

She shrugged "I mean, it can't be helped. plus, you don't want to anger your father."

They stood there in silence for a few seconds before Marinette had finally gathered up all of her courage to do something that she was sure she would regret later. She turned towards him and stood on her tiptoes to reach his face. However, he turned at the wrong time and their lips ended up colliding. She had only intended to give him a peck on the cheek. However, now she had accidentally had her first kiss with Adrien. She was freaking out. The kiss felt like it had lasted forever when, to be honest, it only lasted two seconds. They broke away almost immediately.

"I-I'M SO SORRY! I-I GOTTA G-GO!" Marinette said before she ran off.

Adrien was left there dazed, head spinning. Left with memories of his first kiss with Marinette and their unintentional first date.
