Chapter 8: Agreement

The girls stayed there talking and laughing with each other until dinner. It was a nice change for Chloe. Eating with a happy, loving family. It almost made her feel like she belonged there. After dinner, they went back to Marinette's room.

Marinette started rummaging through the pairs of pajamas that she had in her closet, "I'm sure I have something for you to sleep in."

"I can sleep in whatever." Chloe lied. She would prefer to sleep in her powder blue silk PJs from home. But she didn't realize she would be sleeping over at Marinette's place. So she'll settle for whatever Marinette gives her.

Marinette pulled out a silk ladybug nightgown and some short shorts, "Here you go. It should be...sort of similar to what you're used to." 

"Oh, um...thank you. I'll go downstairs and change in the bathroom." Chloe smiled. She opened the trap door and went downstairs. Once she was changed, she was headed back to Marinette's room when she spotted Sabine in the kitchen washing dishes. She stopped to ask if she needed help.

"Um...do you...need any help?" Chloe asked.

Sabine looked at her, "Hmm? Oh, no it's alright. You go have fun with Marinette. I'm glad you two are finally becoming friends."

When Sabine said that, Chloe couldn't help but feel guilty about treating Mari so badly in the past. She couldn't help but say something.

"About that, I'm sorry I treated her so badly in the past. I regret everything bad that I've done in the past and I'm very sorry."

"Oh, thank you for apologizing but I don't think I'm the one you should apologize to. But I appreciate the gesture." Sabine replied putting a hand on Chloe's shoulder.

"Also, thank you for letting me stay the night. I wish my parents were more like you guys." Chloe said shyly.

"Of course, honey. You're always welcome here," replied Sabine.

"Thank you, Mrs. Dupain-Cheng." Chloe smiled softly.

Chloe headed up to Marinette's room. When she got there, Marinette had put on a movie on her computer and was finishing the project that she had been working on when Chloe arrived at her house.

Chloe cleared her throat to try and get Mari's attention, to no avail. Chloe looked to Tikki. Tikki smiled, "Sorry. She's really concentrating. It looks good on you."

"Thanks, Tikki. I bet I know how to get her to pay attention." Chloe smirked.

"How?" Tikki asked quizzically.

Chloe grabbed her phone. She eyed Tikki before putting the phone to her ear, "Oh, hey Adrien. I nothing just hanging out with Marinette. By the way, did you know that she has a massive crush on you?"

This snapped Marinette back down to earth. She lunged at Chloe trying to get the phone away from her.

Chloe laughed, "Mari! It was a joke!" she took her phone off of sleep mode and showed her the lock screen, "I was playing around!"

Marinette got off of Chloe and sat on the floor, "Don't do that! That wasn't funny!" Mari frowned in defeat.

"Yes, it was." Chloe chuckled.

They sat there looking at each other with the music of the main menu for Tangled came from the computer. Then Chloe had a thought.

"Hey, Mari? I have a proposition for you," said Chloe.

"What is it?" Mari questioned.

"If you put in a good word for me with Luka, I'll do the same for you with Adrien." Chloe proposed.

Marinette thought about it for a bit, "Hmm...okay. Deal." She held out her hand for Chloe to shake it.

Chloe reached out her hand and shook Marinette's. they both smiled as they made the agreement.
