Running.

A load crash come from the outside of the cabin causing me to sit up alert and the nerves started to cause me to shake in fear.

“Please, not yet,” I whispered praying desperately that some god was listening to me. I looked over to Jay who was still snoring his head off obviously not affected by the loud noise, he always was a deep sleeper.

I took a deep breath and debated going out there and seeing what it was or just going back to sleep and hope it was just a bird or something.

Jay stirred in his sleep as I brought up the courage and slowly got up from the bed. “Lauren?” Jay asked sleepily quickly rushing next to me when he saw the scared look I wore on my face.

“What’s wrong?” He asked and another bang echoed throughout the house causing me to jump in fright.

His eyes flickered with fear before growing dark angry and protective. He consumed me in a hug gripping me so tight it was like he could of broken my body if I was completely human.

“I’m going to check it out ok?” He said not really giving me a choice. I shook my head as he pulled away.

“No I’m coming with you,” I told him pulling on his shirt making him come closer again.

“No, your staying here until I come back,” He said firmly looking down at me with those dangerous eyes.

Tears began to flood my eyes at the thought of being left again and being told what to do. Lately all people have been saying is wait until they come back and they never do.

“P-please don’t go,” I begged him as a few tears fell out of my eyes. He gave me a small smile and wiped away the tears that were on my cheeks.

“Wait here,” He said and with that he grabbed the lap from the bedside table and crept out of the bedroom.

Like hell I would wait. I went after him quietly trying so hard to not make a noise and make him notice I was there.

I stopped when he opened the door with his hands gripped tightly around the lap turning his knuckles blood shot from the strain.

I watched him in anticipation as he peered outside, after a few hard looks he retreated from the door and closed it.

Relief rushed over me and he slowly turned around.  His eyes went wide as a firm hand covered my mouth pulling me closer to the person who was holding me hostage.

A sharp edge hovered over the side of my hip just grazing me slightly. I stood frozen with fear as men, women and even children flooded in behind Jay grabbing him firmly and tackling him to the floor as he struggled to get free of the hold they had on him.

Lauren, Jay is going to cause a distraction and then wants us to run, got it? My wolf said and I looked at Jay with denial as I shook my head.  I wasn’t leaving him.

Lauren, listen to me, they aren’t going to kill them, this is bigger than any of us, Lauren you need to run for our baby. I stood stunned as I took in the information, they weren’t going to kill them. Kelly, Simon and Emily were still alive.

Lauren we can save them but they need us alive to do that, My wolf pleaded her voice full of panic and hope.

I gave a stiff nod and with one last look at Jay he gave a loud threatening growl and shook all of the people off of him chucking them furiously around the cabin as more people piled on assisting the others.

The person’s grip on me loosened and I elbowed them in the face causing them to stagger back. People started to come towards me and I did what I was told. I ran.

I rushed through the back door and legged it through the dark forest the morning biting at my skin as I ran.

The wind tangled itself in my hair causing the nice bun I had to loosen and undo. I looked behind me in fear as I saw the cabin disappear in the distance; I couldn’t hear anyone close following me which meant I had a massive advantage.

I didn’t know how I long I was running for until finally I had reached a little street with a 24 hour cafe and a few closed shops.

I looked around unsure what to do next, I was eager to start a plan to save the rest of them but my wolf disagreed saying I had to be smart about it.

I didn’t have any money, clothes or shoes. All I had was a thin night dress and a silk dressing gown and feet that I was sure bleeding from my run in the forest.

Tears began to flood my eyes at the thought of being so ridiculously hopeless. I couldn’t go back, if I did I would be captured leaving the pack with no hope of survival.

I had no shelter and by the looks of the dark morning clouds it was going to rain. A gentle hand touched my shoulder causing me to jump back in fright.

The old women in front of me retreated her hand quickly scared and weary about me. “Are you lost sweet?” She asked her tone coated in a Texas accent.

We stood there in silence for about a minute as I assessed the kind women in front of me. “Y-yes,” I answered timidly and she gave me a sympathetic look. She looked me up and down and gasped at the sight of me, I must of looked a mess.

“Dear lord, hunni you come on inside my cafe, get something to eat and then we can sort out those awful starches all over your body,” She said in a worried tone, I hadn’t even given much thought to the stinging feeling all over my body until she mentioned it and I nodded.

She wrapped an arm around my shoulders and together we walked towards the cafe. “T-thank you,” I said slightly shivering from the cold, if only I had Jay here to warm me up, the thought of him made me want to cry.

“That’s ok, hun,” She said giving me a warm smile, she kind of reminded me of my grandmother. She sat me down at a table and gave me a menu.

“Anything you want, it’s one the house,” She said and I looked down at the menu in content ignoring the stares I was getting from the customers.

Jay’s p.o.v.

I tried to turn to my side but I was stopped by some strong hold that had my wrists held tightly above my head.

The memories of the cabin flooded back to my throbbing head and I quickly opened my eyes in panic.

I tossed my head to the side awkwardly trying to free my hands from the chains I was held captive in and began to pull at them in anger causing the wall I was pinned to crack at the force I was using.

“Jay, baby, no,” My mother’s weak voice pleaded causing me to instantly stop struggling and looked over to my right.

She was too chained up to a stone wall, chains holding both of her wrists and ankles against it, keeping her firmly in place.

“Mom,” I murmured a few tears trickling down my cheeks. She gave me a look which was filled with agony and sorrow. The look she wore on her face made my heart break as I noticed the cuts on her face.

“Where’s dad, where’s Ems?” I asked anger building in my body like a fire that was burning. She shook her head in panic.

“Jay, please don’t lose control, stay calm,” She said using what was left of her energy to add a little Luna tone in her voice.

“Where are they?” I growled furiously trying so hard to keep my wolf at bay.

“They’re not in this cell,” She answered weakly and it was getting harder for me to hear her.

“There’s more cells?” I asked in horror and she gave another weak nod.

“We aren’t the only ones here, Jay, they have captured every pack in the U.S and are planning to capture every wolf in the world,” My mother explained weakly causing me to widen my eyes in horror.

“W-why?” I spat out and she looked away.

“They are planning to enslave us, to slowly kill the whole of the were-wolf race, right down to the last baby,”
