"Cause it's nine in the afternoon
Your eyes are the size of the moon"
Niall POV
“Curse you and everything you stand for.”
After rolling my eyes at my very exhausting wife, I helped her slip on her prosthetic leg and stood up. Tripping on numerous boxes in the process, I stalked into the kitchen to make some coffee. I would blame my crankiness on the fact that there wasn’t caffeine in my body just yet, but we both know it’s from that beautiful yet infuriating woman in the next room.
We had been moved in for about a month at this point, but there were still clothes everywhere. Most of them were mine, but that’s far beside the point. After traveling for almost 4 years because of the different places that Imani was stationed, it was nice to be able to stay in one place again. Plus, with Reagan in the picture now, we needed some stability in our life. She wasn’t even 4 months old yet; she definitely didn’t need to be on planes and in cars as much as we used to be. Even Reason to Love was still going strong.
“Oh, shove it you jackoff”, she said, walking into the kitchen and pouring a cup of coffee, “Let’s start off the morning on a good note.”
“You have a point”, I reluctantly agreed, “What do you have planned for today?”
“Zayn is working today, so I’m going to keep Avery company for a couple of hours. After that, I need to go to the gym. I’m feeling a little flabby.”
“Well, I didn’t want to say anything…”
“Piss off, babe. What are you doing?”
“I’m going to the office until 1 or 2 and then Liam asked me to come visit him at work on his break. I don’t think things have gotten easier with him yet so I’m trying to help out somehow.”
“Liam’s such a wimp, and you be sure to tell him I said so”, she wrapped her arms around my waist, “He should do what I would do. Tell those kids that if they don’t listen to him, he’ll shove his fist up their-.”
“Wise words from a doting mother”, I interrupted, “Reagan is a lucky girl.”
As if on cue, my adorable daughter began crying from her room causing both of us to stand up. She had only just started sleeping through the night, but she did wake up pretty early to my disappointment. My days of sleeping in were long over.
“I’ll get her”, I told Im, “You finish getting ready.”
“Don’t try to be sweet to me now. Not after last night.”
Feeling no shame, I didn’t even try to hide my laughter at the pissed look on her face. I knew she was going to bring this up. In fact, I was hoping she would.
“I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”
She rolled her eyes before walking away. After a few minutes, she came back with a still whining, but at least quietly now, Reagan in her arms.
“Oh, you don’t? Well, I think I’m referring to a certain husband of mine trying to get sex last night and acting very childish when he was told no.”
Very true.
“Childish? I think I handled it in a manly way.”
Not even close.
“You refused to give me my prosthetic so I couldn’t get out of bed. Then when I tried, you tickled me.”
“Ticking never hurt anyone, baby.”
