"Get out." Mom said again. "Why?" I demanded. "He's a Zaslavski, that's why." Mom said. I was absolutely shocked. "What's wrong with his last name?" I demanded. "His family is made up of liars and jerks, we don't associate with that kind of people." Mom said firmly. "Mom! What is wrong with you?" I demanded. "Nothing is wrong with me, now take your boyfriend and go." Mom told me. I was so shocked I didn't move. "Go!" Mom bellowed. Zedd and I walked outside, me crying. Zedd put his arm around my shoulder. I cried into the crook of his neck. He hugged me. "It's ok, we can go to my parent's house." Zedd told me. I nodded and we drove an hour to get to his parent's house. We pulled up in front of a mansion. "I didn't know you lived in the Cullin's Manor. All my friends and I used to fantasize about living here." I said. "Really, we moved in when I was five." Zedd said. I nodded. We rang the doorbell. A tall, red haired woman answered. "Hello Anton." She hugged him. She had a thick Russian accent. "Hello Heidi." Zedd (Anton) said, hugging her. I didn't know he called his mom by her first name. Zedd must've known what I was thinking because he said. "My parents are divorced, my dad married Heidi five years ago, my mom moved to San Fransisco. She remarried and has a girl." Zedd told me. I nodded. "And who are you sweetie?" She asked. "Selena." I shook her hand. "Felix is at the factory, come in he'll be back in a few hours. I'll take you to your rooms." Heidi said. She led us upstairs. She took me to a room with pink walls, a king sized bed that had a white lace bedspread. "It's so pretty." I said. "Thanks, it was supposed to be me and Felix's daughter's room, but I can't get pregnant." Heidi said. I felt bad. She didn't say more. I put my bag on the bed. Zedd shrugged and followed Heidi. I pulled out a book, Love Undone. I wish me and Zedd were Clare and Darren.

It was dinner time and Felix was home. We were laughing and acting like a normal family. I was so happy. "So Selena, what's your last name?" Felix asked. "Why would you like to know?" I asked politely. "Well, we know every family from the East to the West. I'd like to hear about your family." Felix replied. "Uh, Gomez." I said. There was silence. Felix stood up. "Selena, it's best if you leave." Felix told me. I nodded. I stood up. Zedd wouldn't take it. "Why dad?" Zedd demanded. "Gomez's are a terrible family, they're liars and we don't associate with them. Great Grandpa Morris detested them for a reason." Felix snapped. I felt tears in my eyes start to build up. I got up from the table and ran out.
