Chapter 13

"What did you get Mike for his birthday?" Anna asked as she and her spouses got ready for bed the night of the first.

Puck grinned. "A bong."

"Noah, he has so many." Mercedes yawned as she tossed aside pillows.

"He has a collection?" He stilled, shocked.

"Yes. He's very proud of it."

Anna shook her head. "What about you, MercyCat?"

"I got him a car."

"You bought your brother a car for his birthday?" He was a little jealous.

"Yes. It's a '97 Buick."

He wrinkled his face. "Is it in mint condition or something?"

"No." She laughed.

Anna was so confused. "Then why did you buy him a bad car?"

"It's not bad. It's just a heap of junk."

"Why'd you buy him a heap of junk?" He pressed.

"So he can rebuild it like he did Rhonda." Mercedes got in the bed and scooted to the middle.

He blinked. "He did build Rhonda."

"He loves working on cars but Rhonda's perfect and we keep getting new cars as gifts."

"Beth said your dad got her a car. I thought she meant a toy car. Did your dad buy Beth a real car?"

"Of course he did. Lucy is going to continue to help her learn about cars on it then she'll get to rebuilding it."

He was blown away. "What about Rae and Ella?"

"I should be teaching them but I can't do much until after I give birth. I'll teach them little things like how to build a carburetor."

His brain was blown. "Can you teach me?"

"Sure. I don't have many classes this semester. At least not academically heavy ones."

"Why not?" Anna asked as she curled her long legs under herself.

"I took all my hard classes first. Well except for my public speaking class. I have to do that, organic chemistry IV and surgery mechanics."

"Surgery mechanics?" He repeated dumbly.

"Yeah. I actually skipped that class but to get my degree, I need to take it so..."

"What sort of class is it?" Anna asked.

"Just the mechanics of surgery. How to do it."

"So you'll learn how to do surgery?" He wanted to confirm.

"I already know how to perform surgery. Which is why it's basically a bird course for me."

"You know how to do surgery?" Anna was shaken.

"Yes."

"So if my heart stopped right now-?" He led.

"I'd call Mikey. He's the heart doctor. But technically I know how to restart a heart."

Anna blinked in astonishment.

"Whoa..." He was right there with her.

"Whoa." Mercedes quoted Joey Lawrence.

He smirked. "What?"

"Inside joke." She waved him away.

"I don't know what that means." Anna protested.
