Allura's POV
It wasn't long when finally my sister recovered. Perhaps I was rash but as soon as she was able to walk I was practically shoving her towards the door. Mr. McClain was offering for Pidge to stay longer but I couldn't stay any longer with Mr. Kogane in the same house hold.
I recall our argument over my sister well.
-Two Days Ago
I had helped Pidge to gather her things and such and we were making our way towards the front door. Our sister Romelle arrived by carriage to help us.
"Are you sure it's wise for Miss Holt to be on her feet already?" Mr. McClain asked. It didn't take a fortune teller to see he was deeply concerned for my sister.
"It's fine. I have her and I can look after her and tend to her at our home."
"I'm sorry but I must protest." Mr. McClain said.
"Lance, leave it alone. We can't risk having someone who could easily draw in the infection and could lead to your demise."
"Your arrogance could lead to yours." I said facing Mr. Kogane.
"I see you have a terrible problem of misunderstanding people."
"And you have a problem of being unjustly prejudice against them." I retaliated.
"Allura!" Romelle called as I went back to Pidge. "You know Mr. McClain, something that would brighten up everyone's mood, a ball." Romelle suggested.
"No." Mr. Kogane said.
"No a ball is a great idea. Please inform me the second Miss Holt returns to her normal self." Mr. McClain said.
"Great. We'll inform you the second." Romelle said way too excited. Mr. Kogane and I met eyes as we part our separate ways.
Pidge is doing much better today and as Romelle promised, she contacted Mr. McClain and he's throwing a ball tomorrow night for all.
Mother called us down for breakfast and we all sat at the table and she tapped her fingers on the table too cheery and happily as she gave a sheepish look.
"So girls, I have some news to share."
"What news mother?" Romelle asked.
"Mr. Griffon is here and rumors say he is searching for a wife." Mother explained.
"Let me guess, you invited him over in hopes of marrying one of us off to a rich man?" I asked.
"Allura, how could you say that?"
"Our concern now a days should be protecting ourselves from the plague and undead rather than finding a husband to marry for money."
"But finding a husband can help you. Then we can boost the current population of living beings." Mother said.
"It takes nine months for a child to be born, meanwhile it takes mere seconds for a zombie." I said. "Don't you agree father?" I asked our father who sat at the head of the table.
"You are right Allura. I don't see why the girls must marry especially now that zombies still roam these parts. Their priority should be with protecting themselves and each other."
"You are no help Sam." Mother said to father, "Well either way, Mr. Griffon is here so be on your best behavior."
I'll do my best.
Sir Griffon entered and was talking with mother mostly. The two seemed awfully close I began to wonder if mother had already given away one of our hands in marriage without our consent. As expected, I was right.
