Allura's POV

I made no attempt to reach out to Mr. Kogane, not after he had long ceased to bother me. Although it was much a surprise that he nor Mr. McClain never bothered my family again. All this time it seemed as if they'd always bother us, pester us. Consume our minds and out time. At times it made life interesting but once Mr. Kogane revealed his true colors I could no longer stand to be in the same house nor breathe the same air as him.

I had long seemed to move on, but not really. My engagement to Sir Griffon was off as he planned to marry another. It was all I wanted a few days ago yet I found myself envious. A few days ago I would see that as a burden yet now all I can wonder is if I'd ever encounter a man such as Mr. Kogane again with a much more pleasant attitude than his. But then again, there are few who remain in a world full of zombies, perhaps not. Perhaps I'm destined to be alone.

I couldn't help but remember when I first encounter Mr. Kogane at the ball. Before I knew him. He was as mysterious and isolated as I was, anti-social not to mention handsome, yet it meant nothing now. But for a moment then, I'd considered him to be perfect. But that was before.

"Allura?" Pidge called for me as I sat on my bed. She veered her head around the door as she held a envelope in her hand.

"Don't tell me it's a suitor calling you to a ball?" I joked.

She shook her head. "I'll only have one suitor in mine just as you will." I looked at her shocked. "You can't hide it from me." She replied, "I saw you that night and at the other ball. You can say you hate him but your eyes say otherwise."

"Have you come here to pester me or tell me something?"

"I have plenty things to say to you none of which you wish to hear." She said before handing me the letter, "It's for you from the Blade of Marmora resistant on the Balmera." She said before she got up but looked back. "Don't let me stand in the way of your happiness. I would never forgive myself." She replied before she left.

She's right. Somethings I'd prefer her not to say at all.

The letter was sealed tight and did come from the balmera. But the question was who sent it. I opened the envelope to find a letter and I snuck a peak at the sender at the bottom and found it to be signed by one, "Keith Kogane".

I nearly dropped the letter at the sight of his name. It had been days, nearly a week since he arrived and asked for my hand and out of the blue, he writes me a letter. I'm intrigued yet puzzled he'd have the courage to write a letter given his transgressions. Still, since he took the time to write the letter, the least I can do is read it.

-The Letter

"Dear Miss Allura Holt,

I'm not writing to you to apologize for the actions of which you accuse me of but to address the transgressions you accuse me off. I did not intentionlay wound your sister, it was the most unfortunate consequence in protecting my friend. Mr. McClain's feelings for Miss Holt were beyond anything I'd ever seen him feel or witness with anyone before. After hearing your mother so coldly state in having each of her daughters marry into wealthy families, I persuaded Mr. McClain of the unfitness of the match. If I wounded Miss Holt's feelings it was unknowingly done. As to your other accusation of having denied and left Lotor without his share of money. No sooner than my father made clear his intentions to leave Lotor a handsome sum, Mr. Kogane was mysterious infected by the plague, it was left to me, his son to provide a merciful ending."

I wiped away a tear that had begun to fell before I continued to read the rest of the letter.

"Still, I gave Lotor the inheritance my father left. Until Lotor squandered it. Where he then demanded more and more until finally, I refused. There after he severed all ties with me. Last summer he began a relationship with my sister Axca and convinced her to elope. Lotor's target was her inheritance of 15,000 pounds but revenging himself on me was a further contribute to his reasoning. Fortunately, I was able to persuade my sister of Lotor's ulterior motives before it was too late. I hope this helps explain my behavior in your eyes. Of all the weapons in the word, I now know love to be the most dangerous, for I have suffered a mortal wound. When did I fall so deeply under your spell miss Holt. I have faced the truth, that I can never hope to win your love in this life and so I've sought solace in combat. I write to you from the siege on the Garrison. There is now a see there is precise and cunning design to the attacks. I believe there is something guiding the zombies but by overtaking parts of the stronghold on the Garrison they've increased their ranks 100-fold.  Now we move to keep them trapped with the walls of the fallen Garrison before they can reach the Balmera. We now defend the last travel path way from Earth to the Balmera. We will hold the line, but should we fail, I implore you Miss Holt, be ready.

                                                                                                                                                             From Keith Kogane

Suddenly, I regretted everything I said to Mr. Kogane. Well not everything but, not hearing him out. But if the world is truly ending, we must flee to the Balmera. Thankfully we still have our hold ship that brought us here. I informed mother and father about Mr. Kogane's letter and we immediately started backing. Everyone was packed and aboard, at least I thought so, until Pidge came running up.

"Allura," She called out.

"What is it?" I asked as I met her at the steps of the ship.

"It's Romelle." She said handing me the letter. "H-how could she have run off, it's not like her."

It's not like her. But it's like him. Lotor.

I ran back on the ship.

"Mom, dad. Pidge I will follow shortly behind you, We need to find Romelle."

"What, no. We are leaving together. We will help." Mother said.

"No." I replied, "It's alright. I know where to find her. We'll go with help." I replied.

"Who?" Mother asked.

"Mr. Kogane." I replied. That's if we reached the Garrison hold in time.
