Xie Wang is not in love with Wen Kexing, let me make this clear.
I don't want anyone to get too attached to this idea of them like that, because it won't happen. At least, not in this fic. Xie Wang doesn't have much experience with people outside the usual subordinate-boss relationship and the son-yifu one, which that of itself is suspicious as hell. So he doesn't know how to properly react to having a friend.
Xie Wang doesn't know the difference between relationships.
He can't determine if what he feels for Wen Kexing is what a friend feels or even more. He sees Wen Kexing as pretty, that's for sure, thinks he's very beautiful, like how one would admire a painting. But Xie Wang doesn't feel any sexual attraction to him, he's very confused because he doesn't think he loves him either, but has grown very fond of him from their time spent together, talking and playing chess. Xie Wang even played the Pippa for him and was overjoyed when Wen Kexing had cheered and praised him (this was a scene I hadn't put in because I couldn't debate where it would fit in).
Xie Wang is very confused.
But eventually, he'll figure it out and learn what's appropriate and what boundaries are. This man needs a friend and hug, honestly. And maybe a Han Ying because I like the idea of them together, not going to lie. Don't come at me unless you wanna throw hands 😤
