"Our manor has a splendid view all year round. The view of each season has it's characteristics. In Spring, there's a profusion of azaleas. In Summer, phoenix flowers blossom. In Autumn, orange osmanthus spreads a pleasant aroma. In Winter, plum blossoms bloom in the snow."
The environment surrounding the Four Seasons Manor was breathtaking. Wen Kexing looked at every flower and tree in awe, the plum blossoms started their bloom and the orange osmanthus barely withering to make way. The colors of white, light pink, red, orange and yellow was a sight that should never be missed. The grass surrounding them was a healthy shade of green, the slight chill in the air signifying the near end of autumn and the close starting of winter.
It was truly beautiful.
"How pretty!" Gu Xiang spoke his thoughts, Wen Kexing smiling when Cao Weining handed her a flower of light pink hue.
"Four Seasons Manor is full of exotic flowers and plants. What a pleasant view!" Wen Kexing complimented, looking around once more. It was hard to keep his sight away.
"Rabbit!" Zhang Chengling called out, and sure enough, a rabbit ran by their path. The boy ran a few steps ahead but stopped when the rabbit crossed fully and away.
Wen Kexing gave a laugh at the boy's enthusiasm, moving to stand before him. He pointed his fan towards the direction of the rabbit, teasing out, "Call me your beautiful mother three times and I'll catch the rabbit for you."
"Ha! You can barely catch a cold!" Gu Xiang scoffed out, moving to their sides. Wen Kexing gave a false noise of offense, smiling as she turned towards Zhang Chengling and pointed at him, "Give me your desert tonight and I'll catch it for you!"
"Who says I'm making desert tonight?" Wen Kexing huffed out, playfully glaring at the girl.
"If you won't, A' Ning will! Right?" Gu Xiang turned towards the boy in question, who gave a nervous laugh back.
"If it isn't trouble, I would appreciate being able to help in the kitchen, Master Wen," Cao Weining asked Wen Kexing, who rolled his eyes and hummed in thought.
"It would be convenient," Wen Kexing agreed, before reaching out to poke Cao Weining on the forehead, "Call me Da-ge! We're going to be family soon anyways."
Zhang Chengling laughed as Cao Weining turned a bright shade of red, Wen Kexing hiding behind his fan with a smile when Gu Xiang glared at him.
"All of you, stop being naughty," Zhou Zishu sighed in exasperation, but a touch of fondness gentled his eyes and it made Wen Kexing's heart ache. Weeks of traveling and things were still on the edge between them. "The rabbits in this mountain are probably the offspring of the brood your grandmaster's wife kept. For her sake, spare their sons and grandsons."
Gu Xiang pouted while Cao Weining smiled.
"She had the same hobby as my mom," Zhang Chengling spoke, "They both liked raising animals."
"Yes, your grandmaster's wife and Mrs. Bi were the kindest. Once there are wounded animals in the mountain, they would heal them and raise them. If anyone dares to hunt them down to eat, and your grandmaster's wife knows, there would be a huge problem," Zhou Zishu gave Zhang Chengling a look so soft, Wen Kexing nearly cried from it.
