Things That Should Be Made Known Pt.5

Things that happened in the background while Wen Kexing was being sad:

🔸Heroes Conference went basically the same, except Gu Xiang and Cao Weining were also there by the orders of Zhou Zishu and they escaped with Zhang Chengling together.

🔸Zhou Zishu was thoroughly disappointed when he didn't see Wen Kexing in the crowds if people. And was progressively getting moodier that longer he went without seeing him.

🔸They went to the Longyuan Pavilion with Ye Baiyi, who met up with them in a cave and poked fun at Zhou Zishu for being basically divorced.

🔸Gu Xiang and Ye Baiyi argued when Ye Baiyi said Zhang Chengling looked dumb, while Cao Weining tried to play mediator.

🔸Gu Xiang basically took Wen Kexing's place in falling down the bridge with Zhou Zishu. I felt like she would be the most helpful out of the three kids in a fight against the drug men.

🔸Xie Wang met Han Ying at a restaurant inn. Han Ying was searching out information about the Glazed Armour and Xie Wang noticed him. Xie Wang played the role of a shy non-martial artist and politely asked if he could join him. They started talking from there.

🔸Ye Baiyi insists on finding help for Zhou Zishu to be cured and leaves, saying he knows just who may be able to help but claims it may take a while to get there. Zhou Zishu was ready to refuse the help but Gu Xiang gets angry at him and demands that if Zhou Zishu really cared for Wen Kexing, he would take the help and live for him. Zhou Zishu agreed to meet Ye Baiyi and his help at the Four Seasons Manor. Ye Baiyi separates from the group.

🔸Zhou Zishu is approached by Xie Wang, who is upset over Wen Kexing being sad still despite it being nearly three weeks and demands that Zhou Zishu fix it. Zhou Zishu doesn't believe Xie Wang at first that he knows where Wen Kexing is but Xie Wang shows him the hairpin and Zhou Zishu is angered, demanding to know how he got it. Xie Wang tells him where he found Wen Kexing and the state he found him in. He refuses to give the hairpin to Zhou Zishu and instead, takes him to see Wen Kexing.

🔸Zhou Zishu doesn't like Xie Wang, especially since he was the one to offer comfort towards a distressed Wen Kexing to the point where Wen Kexing shows no hostility towards Xie Wang.

🔸The kids obviously noticed the tension between Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu and are not having it.

KittyAnn commented this in the last chapter (from AO3 account) on how ZZS perspective of things were and I thought it suited very well so I wanted to share it will y'all:

"Meanwhile, ZZS feels his most vulnerable and is pulling his cloak of ice around him to self-protect. He feels ashamed at being exposed. Angry for being forced by Ye Baiyi. Probably grief for hurting his Lao Wen. Hopeful and then despairing again. I always wondered why if ZZS so cruel to WKX and doesn’t allow him to grieve? After reading this chapter, I think I have an answer: ZZS is haunted by his mistakes and the futility of his decade-long ambitions. He took the Nails so he could atone and finally die on his own terms. When he reunites with WKX, he doesn’t want to start things up again because he knows he’s dying. However, the time spent with WKX, Chengling, and others brings him back to the person he was before Tian Chuang. Not only can ZZS have atonement, he can also be redeemed and restored to his true self. WKX brings that out in him. WKX makes him want to trust, love, and protect someone again. WKX is his zhiji. ZZS has mostly made peace with his terminal condition. He thinks of himself as a worthless wretch who was granted a few years of happiness before his death. This is heaven’s gift to him. This is enough for him. When WKX finds out about the nails and looks at ZZS with shock, grief, and pity, ZZS is already in a bad emotional place. He has no empathy for WKX’s grief. All ZZS can see is that someone he thought he could trust, understand, and accept him…can’t. ZZS is probably mourning the fact that if he somehow didn’t take the Nails, he could live with WKX longer. WKX’s grief is perceived as criticism for ZZS’s life decisions. ZZS can’t deal with it. He wants to live his life to the fullest and not dwell on his impending death. If WKX can’t do that, ZZS would rather cut the man out of his life than feel the guilt of WKX’a grief. That’s how he feels in the moment. That’s his cruelty - frustration"
