Chapter 15: Test

DAWON POV

Me, Haechan, Jaemin, Renjun, Beomgyu, and Soobin were back at the burnt down Central. It was the middle of the night, and there was no one in the vicinity.

We went inside to investigate the scene for anything that could be helpful. Jeno, Jisung, and Mark were at the base, trying to figure out where the escaped investigators could be. Chenle was exploring the hospital we had, purely for vampires.

Vampires were not supernatural beings. Just because we are different, doesn't make us something that's not of this world. We're just infected. We're just sick.

We're infected with a virus which caused these changes in our bodies. We didn't ask for it, but for some reasons we're being punished like this, and only we are being punished this way.

"I think we should target getting to their CCTV room first. Incase any of our faces are visible on it, we should destroy the footage."

Renjun suggested as everyone and me agreed.

"I was there before, follow me."

Soobin said as we all followed him. It was tougher to get around Central now that it's all burnt down and destroyed. Everything destroyed to crumbs.

We made it near the Security Room but before we could even enter, a strong smell hit us all.

"What is that?"

"Don't know but we've gotta keep going"

Jaemin replied to Haechan as we covered our mouths and noses with our arms and headed closer towards the room.

"What happened here.."

We were standing at the door frame of the Security Room and found out about the smell. There was blood everywhere, splattered on the CCTVs, the floor, the walls, everywhere.

It was *VB.. there was vampire blood all over, and crushed bodies of the victims on the floor. The whole scene was so grotesque, with the many of the victims' body parts missing and the terrified expressions on their faces.

We were all completely dazed, mortified. Our breathes we're shaky and uneven and we carefully stepped in, the soles of our shoes meeting straight with the pools of blood on the floor.

We all looked around as we carefully stepped forward.

I examined the walls splattered with the blood of the poor vampires with my eyes, not looking where I was going.

As a result, I was a little surprised when I suddenly stepped onto something that wasn't the flat surface of the floor.

I flinched and instinctively took a few steps back as I searched with my eyes for what I stepped on, only to find..

"Kara..?"

I questioned to myself as I slowly reached out to it. I could only barely see the face with the body being on its side, but I recognized it.

"Ka..ra?"

I slowly reached my arm out to it's face and turned it, as I gasped in shock.

It was only a head.. no body. It was Kara..

"What's wrong"

Beomgyu asked, coming towards me slowly as I heard the others' steps coming closer as well. I quickly stood up and kicked the head away from sight silently, as I cleared my throat.

"Nothing, let's get to the CCTV footage already, we don't have any time to waste"
