"Wake me up before you go, go" - Lainey
I was woken by the sound of a drum solo from "Dance, dance," by Fall Out Boy not, because my boyfriend who was Fall Out Boys drummer, Andy Hurley was up this ridiculously early playing, but because he was proud (vain) of his band that he had it set as his alarm tone.
Maybe if I pretended I hadn't heard it, he'd leave me sleeping? No such luck. He soon started drawing circles on my hips where my tank top had hitched up during the night and began rubbing his beard against my bare back. "Honey, we need to wake up now."
"Noooo! Marie is taking the kids to school this week." While Patrick, Christin, Pete and Charlotte were on their honeymoon, Marie and I were car pooling for Declan and Ruby and I had chosen the last week to pick them from school.
"I know that honey. That's why I've made an early appointment with my lawyer so you can come back and get some rest before you have to fetch them."
I felt my muscles tighten. The last time I was at Andy's lawyer was when Andy decided he was putting half the house in my name. It was an instant, mutual dislike. He thought I was a gold digger, I thought he was a crabby old man. I flipped over and looked Andy square in the eye. "Why are we going to your lawyer Andy?"
He looked nervous. "Honey there's just some stuff I want to sign over to you and somethings I want him to explain to you. You and my mom are all I have... For now and I just want to make sure you're taken care of if something freakishly weird should happen to me."
I rolled my eyes. "Why don't you just steal my driver's license for my social security number and forge my signature like you do on my credit card receipts?"
He chuckled. "1. Because I already know your social security number off the top of my head. 2. It's a joint account so it doesn't matter who signs for it but I just have fun pretending it's you and 3. You need to know and understand these things."
"Okay, I get it, I get it! But why so fucking early!"
I threw a pillow at him. And he hit me back with it. "Stop bitching and moaning so early in the morning and get dressed Elaina!"
I grumbled incoherently. I hated being called by my real name. Instead of listening to Andy's instructions, I opened the sliding door and went out onto the balcony. From the bar fridge I took an ice cold Coca Cola and sat and lit a smoke. Glorious caffeine, sugar and nicotine. Andy could live without those things, I tried and quickly discovered Straight Edge was not Lainey's edge.
I came in to find an atypically dressed Andy Hurley making the bed. He had a slight touch of ocd about how the bed was made so I never disturbed him when it came to that. "Honey, come on. Throw on some clothes and let's go. We'll grab breakfast on the way back."
I looked at him with puppy dog eyes. "Mc Donald's?"
He sighed. "Yes I'll get you Mc Donald's just get dressed!"
I skipped happily to the walk-in closet Andy had had built onto our bedroom and picked out some clothes and shoes. Andy had really gone all out with this house, ensuring it was pure luxury. He had said he wanted "only the best for his best."
The clothes I picked out showed my disdain for Andy's lawyer. A had chosen ripped, faded jeans, a t-shirt that said 100% bitch and plain white Converse. I threw my long black hair up into a messy bun and quickly did my make-up and grabbed my handbag. I found Andy waiting for me downstairs and took note of how he looked at me. No matter what I wore, he still looked at me like I was pure beauty. I really loved this man.
