AN here's a little side track from our happyish couple to their new daughter (fashioned after ThisKidAintAlright and a friend I decided she'd make inspired by Fedoragirl

Starting over – Rave

After all the commotion had died down, Marie and Lainey dragged me to the car for some shopping. “So where do we start Lanes?” Marie inquired.

Marie looked at me as Lainey did and both of them came up with an answer at the same time: “Hot Topic!”

We all laughed as we parked the car and made our way to the mall’s Hot Topic store. There, Lainey piled clothes into a basket for me. I was perplexed at what she chose. How did she know what I would like? She was really taking a big chance at having to come back and exchange things! She called out to me, “Rave, go pick out make-up and accessories!” I did as I was told; not wanting to make any waves and found some really nice stuff along with a make-up purse as mine was threadbare. I made my way back to Lainey and Marie, finding them already at the counter. I added my stuff to their purchases and watched as the clothing was rung up. I was wrong; Lainey seemed to have a really good idea as to what I would like. “Lainey, all this stuff is so beautiful! Are you sure it’s not too much?”

Lainey laughed, “Well, Andy’s paying so no! Let’s go grab you some shoes quick and then off for lunch!” We all laughed loudly at the joke and walked arm in arm like a regular bunch of girls. It had been a long time since I’d had any company and I was thoroughly enjoying it. As we walked into the shoe store the girl working there immediately. She had shoulder length chocolate brown hair with blue and pink highlights littering it and placed strategically over her window-style bangs. She was just slightly shorter than Lainey who I was a lot taller than. She was wearing a store shirt with black shorts and combat boots and her wrists had tons of Fall Out Boy, Twenty One Pilots and Panic! At The Disco bracelets. She seemed like the type of person I would have hung out with any day.

I don’t know what possessed me at that moment. Maybe there was a new kind of freedom that I felt now I was with people who cared about me and now that I wasn’t so concentrated on how I was going to make it on my own. I walked up to the girl and tapped her on the shoulder. “Hi! I’m Raven. Everyone calls me Rave. I’m new in town and I wanted to find out about what things there were to do in town?”

She smiled nicely at me and stuck her hand out to shake. “Hey! I’m Alex. I work here part-time for spending money. There isn’t much for us teens here – I would suggest the Fireside bowl but they only have one teen night a month on the second Friday of the month.”

Tomorrow was the second Friday of the month and I remembered something from an old interview about Fall Out Boy. I would ask dad – Andy – about it when I get home. “That sounds really cool! Are you going?”

“Yeah I will definitely be there! Are you going to come?”

I knew I still had some money of my own from working and I don’t think Andy and Lainey would be the type to keep me captive if all my school was in order. “Yeah I think I will. I just have to ask my pa – Lainey and Andy – first.”

She looked puzzled. “You call your parents by their names?”

“Oh no! I’m adopted and they’re my adoptive parents.”

She looked at me sympathetically and scribbled something on a piece of paper which she handed over to me. “I’m sorry hun. Hey, look here’s my number. Let’s get in touch?”

I smiled widely. “Awesome! I’ll text you tonight!”

Lainey and Marie had finished already and were standing at the door watching the exchange. Lainey put her arm around me as I walked out. “Hey, did you just make a new friend?”

I nodded and her and Marie high-fived each other. We headed to Pizza Hut and got some vegan-friendly pizza for Andy and I and some Pepperoni for the others. I felt bad since Lainey had mentioned Thursday was their ladies night but when we got home, I didn’t feel as bad as I had anymore because there was a new car in the driveway next to Joe and Marie’s. I looked in the back and saw another car seat. More babies?

We entered the house through the garage door and to our surprise, Andy was making his way to the door and grabbed my bags. “Close your eyes Rave!”

I don’t know why I trusted Andy. He had a wide beam on his face. I closed my eyes and gave him my hands to lead me. A few paces later and he told me to uncover my eyes. “Rave, I would like you to meet your cousins, Bronx Mowgli and Lazslo Saint Wentz!”

I smiled widely once again for the next time in less than hours. This was more smiling than I was used to. I immediately reached for Lazslo. He was too adorable! Then I handed him to Andy and kneeled down to the blonde surfer dude next to him. “Hey Bronx! I’m Rave!”

He hugged me around my neck. “Daddy said you’re family. My cousin. So you get a hug!”

“Now, now, Bronx let’s not smother young Raven just yet. I am Miss Tiffany, the boys care taker and I will be monitoring your studies.”

I smiled and shook her hand, then second guessed it and pulled her into a warm hug as I realised this was the Miss Tiffany. “Oh baby you’re a classic, like a little black dress!”

She laughed. “Oddly enough that song isn’t about me but was titled after my distaste for the person it was about. You’re quite a perceptive young lady, I doubt I’ll have much monitoring to do.”

Andy was over the moon pleased. I remembered I had to ask him something. “Hey d – Andy!”

He looked at me, almost like he knew what I was about to call him and was not going to push the agenda further. “Yeah sweetie, what’s up?”

“I saw an old interview of yours once where you mentioned you guys playing live shows at the beginning of your career and the different names you’d play under?”

Joe facepalmed himself. “Oh shit, she’s going to ask us about the names.”

Lainey and Marie laughed loudly and erupted into a chorus. “Boner Party!”

We all laughed at the secret name Fall Out Boy had once performed under. There had been others. My favourite had been Save Latin but the funniest was Boner Party. “No that’s actually not what I was going to ask about. I made a friend while I was out shopping today and she said the Fireside Bowl have a teens night every second Friday of the month. I know you guys used to perform there. Do you think I could go? You could come with me if you wanted but I don’t think it’ll be an issue because I don’t really drink or anything.”

Joe put his arm around me. “I am so down to go to the Bowl! Andy and I can have a jam session and you and your friend can have a karaoke night. I’ll call the owner of the Bowl up now and get it sorted out.”

Alex was going to freak when she saw who I showed up with. I picked up my phone from my pocket and pressed dial on her number.

“Hey Alex! It’s Rave.”

“Oh hey Rave, what’s up?”

“So I spoke to my d – Andy,” I mentally scolded myself for nearly calling him dad again and carried on, “but him and his friend want to come with. I know it’s super lame. So I’ll see you there right?”

She laughed. “Sometimes you do get cool dad’s. Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow at 19:00.”

Life was definitely looking up for Raven Wentz-Hurley.
