My word is law - Lainey

Andy basically dragged me into his lawyers office, I was so tired and reluctant to go. I really did hate the guy. Why couldn't we just use Toni?

The douche, Mr. Constantine, was waiting in the reception area. "Ah Andrew, I thought dragging Elaina out of bed so early might have been a problem so I allowed for a few minutes extra."

I glared at him with acid in my eyes. "I'll have you know I'm up on time to drop my niece and nephew at school every second week, thank you. I was just unprepared for this meeting."

He glanced me up and down, lifting his nose slightly in the air as though assessing me. "Evidently. Shall we proceed?"

He turned around and led us into his office. I quickly stuck my tongue out and Andy playfully swatted me. We were directed to two chairs across from where Mr. Constantine was taking his seat. He cleared his throat and began as though he was making a speech that was life altering and he wanted to make sure I understood every word.

"Now, Elaina, what Andrew has done is almost never heard of, especially in couples who are not either in a common law marriage, looking to be married and sometimes even married couples, and as his legal advisor, I am duty bound to discourage him doing so. Nevertheless, Andrew has divided his estate equally in half. While he lives, he will retain one half and the other will now be in your name. Upon his death, his half of the estate will revert to Mrs. Hurley."

My eyes widened. Then, I looked at Andy angrily. "Why would you do that!"

Mr. Constantine continued as though I hadn't even had a mini-meltdown. "He has also taken four disability insurance policies. Should he be unable to continue in his line of work, two are payable with you as the sole beneficiary. Out of the eight life insurance policies under his name, you are sole beneficiary of four."

I was at boiling point now. "I have a job that I work hard at! I have my own money that I earn! I don't need half of the money you pay for in sweat and long nights! Why would you even do that! We already have a joint credit card which you pay for anyway, you bought the house then insisted I put it half in my name and then you bought me a bulletproof SUV with tints! You don't even let me buy my own things!"

Andy, calm as ever, got up and held me. "Lainey, I'm doing this because I'm committed to you and I want our future to be secure. Not because I'm some neanderthal who wants you to be a kept woman."

His touch calmed me down and once again, the idiot Constantine disregarded me. "Elaina there are some forms need to now complete."

I ignored him and gave Andy a deep kiss right then and there.
